  1. 1. Check your PM.. I mailed you. 2. ALRIGHT!!!!!! I'm not the only crazy person on here that wants to start a corps!!!!!! 3. I would also email some of the new corps... and see what they've had to do.. Prarie Sound, Austin Stars, etc. They're some of the newest groups out there... I'm sure their corps directors/members would be delighted to share some of the priviledged info.
  2. Swwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt....... 1A... i did that cause administration sucked... 1B... Fiance broke up with me in March... yes, corps ladies I'm single!!! 1... CA is a little far 2... I've wanted to always be on the Evil side 3... Enjoy summer... hell yeah!!!! hmmm, maybe I should put California on my job hunting list...
  3. It's crossed my mind... it really has... the only thing holding me is the fact that $$ is an issue. Go figure.
  4. So as we have now started a new season... I've already admitted I'm on the outside wanting in... So my question in this thread is... Who else is in a situation like mine? That you want to march but there is nothing locally available for you to do so. If, in addition to adding yourself to the list of people without a corps, you could leave your location, maybe this could be a building block for the formation of future groups. I'm Mike.... Lead sop, and I currently live in Salisbury, MD (30 miles from Ocean City, MD)
  5. Or they let you do bari and percussion in the same show!!!! hehe... that was awesome in 2005 for minicorps
  6. I think you have an interesting topic here... and let's just not limit it to snare drummers... What's the age breakdown of the corps? Just cause it's senior corps doesn't mean you have to be old... I would know... So let's just break it down... Percussion, Brass, Guard Age <21, 22-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, >60 Whatcha got in your corps?
  7. Thanks!! This is gonna blow my cover here, but I'll say it anyway... I'm in the market for a new teaching job. I teach band primarily... grade levels dont' matter, but since I know we're all one big drum corps family, if anyone hears anything, could you let me know? It'd be greatly appreciated. Look at it this way, if I land a job in your area, I'm obviously moving... so... I guess it's kind of a bounty... if anyone can get me leads to a job that gets me in their area, I'll pay you back by being a member of your corps!!! I think it's a sweet deal... PM me if you have anything... Ok, now, back to the topic at hand... who's still gotta their minicorps apps in????
  8. Hey, I still got the Dubba-C and then some... I just don't have a corps to use it with. The beach goers like hearing it when I play with the big band, but that's just not the same... So I guess this is the easy way of saying... Lead solo sop for hire!!!!!
  9. I'd do minicorps if I had a minicorps to play with!!!!!
  10. Ok... so it's DCI vs. any all-age corps outside of the Northeast... All we need is some upper mid-west input on the matter and we'll have our official headline... I say that knowing that some corps frown upon their members coming on here and talking... so if anyone spectator or otherwise, has seen this happen in the midwest... please, do share...
  11. I think this is where DCA and DCI need to co-exist and have shows that run together, esp. on the west coast. I explained this in the "DCA Show in Erie" thread. Basically, have DCA and DCI do some shows together and put an intermission between them even... I know, I know, who am I, what corps do I run and what weight do I pull... the answer is none. But as a casual observer... it would make sense and everyones scores would be accurate and read outloud at least.
  12. Well, you know I'd be there in a heartbeat if I could... I wanna play in the corps again soo bad.... It's always fun playin for the home crowd in Erie... Gary, if for some reason you would need any outside point of view, let me know. I'll be glad to help.
  13. I did not know that. Knowing what I've just learned.. that couldmake things a little easier. Although, like you said... i don't know who would wanna be in charge of the coordination of 2 schedules, but as 5 star proved in Hershey, it can be done. So it's not totally outside the realm of possibility. If the right people get everything together and submitted to both DCI and DCA... there might be a chance of it happening. I know... it's easy to say it... it's another thing to make it happen, but I know I'm not the only one with that thought process. This next thought can go here and with thread on gas prices.... Show organizers might want to start looking at the possibility of more shows like this for on the weekends... Look at your DCI tour schedules... around the PA area, it's basically the same 3-4 corps at every show... so it's almost like a little regional tour. Well, if that's the case, team up DCI and DCA. Look at the benefits, 2 shows in 1. The crowd will get to see all those corps for 1 price. They won't have to spend the money to go to 2 different shows and pay for gas both times. This might not always work with having Div. 1 DCI, but there's Div.2/3 as well... and with everyone starting to feel the pinch, the activity is gonna have to look for ways to keep going. If both DCI and DCA could get on board with the idea.... that'd be a sweet deal. Of course you run into the more logistical problems of who goes on first, what's the headliner, etc.... Anyway... just something I was brainstorming... feel free to add, take away, bash, or commend what i've said... it's my opinion, i have one just like everybody else :-D
  14. Ok, don't shoot me over this... BUT... What about Erie hosting a show kinda like at Hershey (ducks behind wall).... Have a DCI/DCA show... yes, I know that LER has the Lake Erie Fanfare in the same stadium... but what about later in the summer having a couple corps stop in for a show after DCI East at Allentown on their way to Indianapolis as well as have some of the DCA corps in attendance along with your host.. the Erie T-Birds. The potential to do it is there. You'd get an awesome crowd. Just think... A few of the DCI corps.. all primed up and rolling.. ready for Finals... then a few DCA corps... later in the season.. so they're getting warmed up for finals... Sounds like an awesome show!! Possible lineup could look like this... DCI - Spirit, Pac Crest, Crusaders, Crown, Blue Knights, BD, Cadets DCA - Minnesota Brass, Kilties, Empire, Brigs, Roc. Cru, Grennies, Bucs, White Sabers... and the list goes on... That'd pack the house... that's for sure.... But that's up to Gary and the guys to decide....
  15. Shot in the dark, but what about Penn State Univ. would that be too big as well? Altoona has a minor league baseball team, I'm tryin to think of other places... What about Univeristy of Maryland at College Park, they had DCI Finals there a few years ago... I know the universities can pose a problem... but it's worth a shot!
  16. The DCA Mid-Season Showdown... The show where all the big corps could cross paths on the same night... not to mention, a show like that, there'd be no second guessing who would be the best at that point. All the corps would be judged by the same judges. It'd be interesting....
  17. Ok.... yup... I'm still tryin this... This is year #3 now... and I'm still looking for something on the shore... I'm sayin minicorps... the people are here... where are ya?
  18. That was a great night. The diehards stayed and watched and we all had a good time!!
  19. Hehe... Many moons would have to align... so who's moons would they be? I know there's a few up there that would drop their drawers and stand in line!!!!! I bet you all thought I disappeared.... hehe.. nope.. I'm still here.... I was thinkin about maybe comin up around the 4th of July... hmmm...
  20. Isn't a music stand a bunch of empty labatt's cans stacked on top of each other and you just kinda prop the music up against them???
  21. I've been kinda hesitant lately with things. There is a possible move to Western PA coming up with me in the future (looking for a job out there) and I've just been busy at school and such. If we're still interested let's try and do this thing. There's enough people around that we could get something together.
  22. Happy Birthday!!!! You're still my corps-dad!!!!
  23. I'm looking at moving back out that way!!!! So if it happens, I'M BACK!!!!!
