  1. Hello all: I have a 14" Yamaha Marching Snare with MTS for sale. It has a gorgeous grey marble finish, has never been used outdoors or for any marching--it has lived in its case or on a stand its whole life. All hardware is perfect and un-scratched, the shell is in excellent shape as well (no scratches) I am in Chicago, but I am open to the idea of shipping the drum (at buyers expense). Anyway, here is a link to my craigslist ad with a couple pictures. If you want more pictures or have any questions, please refer to the email address on craigslist. Thanks for reading! http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/msg/1252540840.html
  2. A while ago, when I bought an APD I was able to drag it into my itunes library and it would convert the files for me so I could then put them on my ipod. Now it wont let me drag them in AND when I drag them to my ipod, itunes tells me it cannot due to improper file format. So, I was wondering if the newer versions of itunes require you to do something else, or what. Thanks! --CJ
  3. Ok, so I'm an idiot. I bought the pay per view for tonight, but there aren't any instructions anywhere on the site (that I can see) as to how to actually watch it. So, um, how I do I watch the webcast? thanks.
  4. Hey, I was wondering, from those that were at Naperville last night, if anyone had any reviews or thoughts. This was my first show since June so yeah, I will post some of my amatuer opinions, feel free to post yours. I didnt see everyone, so I will comment on those I did see. Magic--great drumline in the lot--not the best feet, playing quality went down on the field. Cool show--I dont know what else to say, I was glued to the battery. Colts--Guard and Visual are great, far better than I even hoped for them to get. Battery has made a lot of improvements in the past couple weeks (I've been in contact with some friends in the line), a lot of music changes in the battery--although I think it may be too late to save their perc scores--we'll see though. Brass was much more refined, they did have some attack/release issues to work out, but overall intonation and tone were great in comparison to my last read and any Colts year since 99. Im glad their score went up, but personally I think an 85 would have been justified--dont count them out just yet, at the very least they're giving it their all until the end. Cadets--Opening is great through the first hit and little way into white rabbit, then I was bored for about 2 minutes--then the perc feature, way more tics than I expected out of the Cadets--crowd loved it though. Ballad was beautiful, closer had a lot of energy, drill was clean throughout. I will say, the guard was strong, but they never forced me to pay attention to them. All in all, I like the show a lot--aside from my 2 minute nap--not the same caliber of performance as last year, but still great performers doing well with a very challenging show. Phantom--love the show both visually and musically there were some tone quality issues here and there out of the brass. Percussion is incredible, extremely difficult book for the battery being executed at a near flawless level, pit has an amazing sound lots of great effects as well (I think they'll take perc at finals). Crowd loved their show, lots of energy--they want to move up bad--it's easy to see that when they perform. Cavaliers--I love this show. BUT I will say that the first 4ish minutes are so good and so packed with GE that the second half of the show--while great--seems less entertaining at first sight--the second half of the show is a multi-read show. Brass---amazing--thank god they finally learned LOUD--theyre no PR, but getting there. Mellophones--absolutely beautiful sound. Guard was great--very cavlalier design--great. Percussion--Im really glad Jim Casella is there, I love his style--this is not an OFF year for them, just a year of big changes--they've improved A LOT this summer--Id say a 4th place finish maybe 5th. Watch out for the next couple of years though. Just my thoughts....yours? PS where are the recaps?
  5. I've been thinking about Perc 2 a lot since it first started. Last summer I got a first hand look at it. Honestly--I think it is a nice concept, BUT the judges can't get a fair read on you when they only see you a couple times all summer. One perc 2 judge will be lucky to see your show 3 times all summer. Also, look how much time is put between seeing a Perc 2 judge, in can be a week or more for some groups. If it happened at all shows, that would be one thing, but it doesn't. In addition, why does the smallest section in the corps need two judges? Why arent there two brass and two guard judges? Neat idea, but poorly executed.
  6. Hey--Im just wondering what anyone has heard? I haven't spoken with any members in a while, they seem to have hit a wall in scores--first at 76 now at 79. And the perc 1 scores??? What is going on? Im trying my hardest to be optimistic, but if they plan on making finals, I dont know--spirit at an 83, xmen right with the colts. Im just wondering where all the pre-season momentum and hype went? I love the show and I know the members do and they're working hard and being worked hard--but I havent had an update in a while. Thanks and Go Red Team!! --CJ
  7. In no order Cavaliers Colts BD Phantom Bluecoats
  8. I really would like to see Colts in--I think that their design is definetly finals worthy. However, I think Spirit may/will end up keeping Colts/XMen out--if they plan on making it to saturday they need to works their collective butts until they die--I highly doubt spirit is going to 'take it easy' from here on in. By they way, does anyone know what is going on with Colts Perc 1 scores? Last year at Kalamazoo we got a 15.9 from Allan K.--this year, same judge and same day they get a 12.7??? I haven't seen them in a while, I realize when I saw them there were a lot of ticks (due to difficulty in the book) but I dont know, if anyone has seen them could you post a review/your thoughts?(sorry for straying off) Anyway--just going off of San Antonio (finals week caliber judges) Xmen--2pts--Colts--2pts--Spirit other spreads like this Cadets--2pts--PR--2pts--Cavs Do Cadets have it in them to beat cavs?? Boston--4pts--Cadets Can Boston overtake Cadets? Im not saying it isn't possible, but at this point very difficult could describe it, especially when you look at other spreads. I realize its one show, and those are overall scores, but it is all with the same panel (afternoon and evening, respectively) so yeah, enough rambling, those are my thoughts. Whoever wants it the most will get in. Later

  12. I had a suitcase that held my sleeping bag and all clothes and a backpack for the bus along with a 'bus box' (under the seat storage for food and things), at Colts we have relatively strict packing rules if I recall (anyone help?), one piece of luggage, a sleeping bag, one carry on, and bus storage, and no mattress pads of any kind. But you make it work, all you really need are some shorts for rehersal, uniform clothes and one set of cool weather, rain, freeday clothes and youre good.
  13. I was wondering if there was anyone that I could impose upon for a ride to the July 9th show to Rockford? I live in downtown Chicago, so I can get just about anywhere in the city or I could probably get METRA tickets to a suburb if that was the case. I hate to be a beggar, but I really want to get to this show--obviously I would help pay in the gas department. Any help would be great. Thanks! p.s. just PM me or email me flamaq@gmail.com --CJ
