  1. eBay: King 2 Valve Baritone in G/ Silver Used but maintained throughout its time with the corps, to our knowledge it's a great playing horn with no leaks. Finish is worn to brass around the valve casings where the horn is held to play. Other wear to finish indicated in the photos. Assorted small dents but all are minor and do not effect playability. One broken weld where the first valve attaches to the large tubing, just before the bell. All valves and slides move freely. Case is in good condition but both spring latches are broken. Center latch is still intact. **This horn is being offered for sale by the San Francisco Renegades Drum and Bugle Corps.**
  2. eBay: Dynasty 3 Valve Mellophone in G/ Silver Used but maintained throughout its time with the corps, to our knowledge it's a great playing horn with no leaks. Finish is worn to brass around the valve casings where the horn is held to play. Finish inside and outside of bell and after the last bend (topside) is nearly perfect. The finish on the parts of the horn that is obvious to people in the stands looks great. Assorted small dents but all are very minor and do not effect playability. One moderate dent past the last condensation valve. The spit valve still works fine. All valves and slides move freely. Case is in good condition but missing the top handle (it still has another handle on the side). **This horn is being offered for sale by the San Francisco Renegades Drum and Bugle Corps.**
  3. *** Gulf Coast Sound Open House- November 12!*** Am I responsible for cooking the hot dogs again?
  4. Cool. I am now officially Yahoo Group member number two. Attention world of drum corps: Big things are happening in Texas.
  5. Unfortunately, some members on the North and West side of Houston are planning to stay and ride it out for now. GCS members pretty much quit posting to our message group yesterday. Hopefully they’re all getting ready for the worst if the storm hits hard. The Walmarts were out of water in the Houston area last I heard. At least the officials in Houston had the sense to start evacuations sooner rather than later. The 2006 staff retreat was scheduled for this weekend in Galveston; guess we’ll reschedule that… I lived in Houston for three years and never saw a hurricane. I may have gotten out just in time.
  6. I'm feeling slightly Tremendous... ... guess I need to book a flight!
  7. CorpsVets hosted the first DCAS Championships. There were some weather issues last year so all the South member corps wanted Heatwave to have a chance to put a championship- quality show together without all the wind. They did so nicely on Saturday night.
  8. It can’t be said enough: Thank you Vic and Heatwave for hosting a great show! Great facilities, great support, great field. The band boosters even chauffeured our bus drivers to their hotel so the bus could stay at the show site. It rained like mad for four hours and the field was still one of the best I’ve ever marched on: no mud, no sponginess, nice low cut just higher than a golf green. The folks in Florida know how to lay a field to take some water! The crowd was great and responsive. Not many audiences would stick around for an hour or so rain delay but the stands looked full between the 30’s when I was on the field. Sure, they weren’t sitting cheek to cheek but a bigger crowd than Gulf Coast Sound has seen at shows we’ve driven a lot more miles to get to. DCA South is becoming a real community of drum corps. Alliance: One of the best first- year DCA corps ever Gulf Coast Sound: Bigger and better every season Shenandoah Sound: Some of the toughest SOB’s in all of drum corps Heatwave: Always innovating while maintaining their unique character CorpsVets: Taking the CV style to a new level year after year

  10. Thank you for the review. All of us in GCS had a great weekend. The incredible hospitality of both show sponsors made it possible for us to put our best effort on the field. Now, it’s time for some HORIZONTAL sleep! Marc Sanders AD, Gulf Coast Sound
  11. um. congrats to the Troop for staying Bb. WTF?
  12. Yeah, Scouts will be Bb next year. I think that’s common knowledge by now. Please remember to support The Troopers. They have made a commitment to the history and future of the G bugle. To all the folks who complain about the end of drum corps as they knew it; give to the group that is supporting the legacy you remember. When you get your Christmas bonus this winter: Remember The Trooper. When you get your tax return next spring: Remember The Troopers. The Troopers are truly a unique organization; let them know you support what they’re doing! On a completely unrelated note- The King Bb’s Phantom are playing this year are the best sounding band horns I’ve heard yet. :)
  13. Yeah, I'm confused about the CV section, too. Best I can tell, the reviewer thinks it was rude for CV to come to NJ and out score Bush with a show the crowd enjoyed.
