Why the Cadets should have won
Jedicadet05 replied to Einstein On The Beach's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
The only way to beat a borg is to vary your photon cannons so that they shield can't adapt. In essence, change the topic so many times that we can't make a formidable argument against any of them! Sorry, The trekky in me just snuck out a little. I'll try and control him. -
On the Propriety of Booing
Jedicadet05 replied to Dan Baker's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
So, what you really mean to say is that you Booed The Cadets? Whether it be the members, food staff, marching or brass staff, or the director, its a Drum Corps. The entire unit acts as one. The corps can not pull off a successful season without all of its parts. When the corps wins, all of those people get rings. You booed The Cadets. -
A rock and a hard place

I liked ur version better -
From what I saw the kid backed square up into the judge. The judge came around the form and ran back field as the hornline's form moved into a box, also heading backfield. The judge stopped while the member kept moving. I also thought I saw a horn drop. I very well could've been a stick tho, my eyes aren't that great any more, need some Lazer surgery...heh

Vis caption includes the marching members, and the guard. Lets ignore the guard for now..... If the team that wins vis has the best marchers, why do they fall down? Isn't marching performed standing up? So how can a team with "not the best marchers" win vis? I know it may be unreasonable, thats y I started the thread :)

Last night the Cavaliers won the visual caption. I'm also hear rumors about how they had 2-3 members fall down. I know it has nothing to do with the judging, and that the judges possibly didn't see any falls, but how does the visual caption winner fall 3 times in a show? it just seems weird to me, any opinions?

I do not know how many blind pass thrus they have, nor the danger of their show. Yeah, they could've made it fine tonight. But DCI also should've (not could've) repainted the hashes. Hop made sure they were accountable for that. -

I know Hop. Just b/c he doesn't care what other people think about what he does doesn't make him evil or undermining. Answer: Hop knows that the kids don't care about the booing. It fuels them. You boo, they come back stronger and stronger. Watch.... -
The Cadets at Quarterfinals
Jedicadet05 replied to SxFxZ's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I most likely have, on more than one occasion. finals week 05 were the most stressful shows ever because there was not telling what line was or wasn't going to be there. When i look for a hash/yard line I want it to be there. Thats why they made the new rule. Hashes are just as important as yard lines...maybe more important cause there are fewer of them. -

Isn't is funny that everything about finals is really clean and pristine except for the field that DCI presents :P -

I doubt Hopkins would lie to thousands of people just so his corps can get a competitive edge. He's not an ########. What he did was for safety only. -

Hopkins was 100% justified for his request. Timing or whatever, its a stupid stopwatch, line your fields they way they're supposed to and start the watch again. -
The Cadets at Quarterfinals

DCI admitted it made the wrong decision. The hardest thing to do is admit you're wrong. DCI is capable of doing so, thus making it strong. -
The Cadets at Quarterfinals
Jedicadet05 replied to SxFxZ's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Tonight ALL corps learned that their directors need to stand up for them. The only whining that should be done is about why they didn't do what Hopkins did. -

I think you mean.....maybe more corps Directors will demand better facilities during QUARTER FINALS! When DCI drops the ball, directors need to pick it up. -

The Cadets at Quarterfinals
Jedicadet05 replied to SxFxZ's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
multiple corps were complaining about the hash marks. Hop knew it was unacceptable. I could care less what hazards other corps have performed in. When i marched I HATED marching in the rain or dark because I knew that I could get hurt. Even if the Cadets were a little off tonight because of the delay so what, they know they're safe and that they have a staff that cares about them. I bet PR, Coats, Crown, and Cavies wished their director would stop quarterfinals so they could have hashes. -

So ur saying just cause Hop asked its a problem? He was the only director with enough guts to do what was right. -
The Cadets at Quarterfinals
Jedicadet05 replied to SxFxZ's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I talked to one of the Cadets vis staff as this was unfolding. Apparently corps were coming off the field complaining that there were no hash marks, so it wasn't just Hop. If my kid ever marches I want them to go to Cadets cause their director cares about his members. Not some super-powerful DCI, or a 2 point penalty, but the saftey and fairness of his members. DCI has some nerve to penalize Hop for something THEY should've been taking care of. I hope Hop and the rest of the directors give them hell for this immature decision. DCI is falling apart. -
other "professional" organizations can supply live web feeds so why can't DCI. I think they're trying to spend as little money on this, while charging as much as possible.

Current Division II/III Standings for Finals....
Jedicadet05 replied to goldingna's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
There are some crazy large point flips show to show. Is divII/III harder to judge than Div I? -
Does anyone know where I might be able to find the step-off times for the Prelims?
