  1. OK Fran, Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! Good to see some people putting their memories up in posts now!!!!!!!!!
  2. :) This post was made on RAMD and with screen name SIGLOW's permission, I cut and pasted it to here. Fred Here's another one for you. In 1963, the Cabs were in the middle of one of their undefeated seasons, and back in those days they were the darlings of the Dream crowd. Well, that year the New York Skyliners had a musical show to die for and the hornline to really pull it off. a lead line that, for the most part, had people that had been playing together for almost a decade. Tommy Martin, Bucky Swan, Gus Wilke, Johnny Guarino, Dom Tambone, JoJo Tadaro, to name a few. Anyway, they put on a musical show that absolutely had the crowd going delirious and frantic. If you can get your hands on a copy of the Fleetwood album for the Dream that year and listen to the Skyliners show, in the exit (remember that portion of the show????), you can just about hear them because the crowd was going ballistic. Well, the Cabs won the show but the Skyliners won the crowd. After retreat, while the Skyliners were passing in review, the crowd came pouring out of the stands and surrounded the Skyliners and wouldn't let them leave the field. Finally, after they were able to get to the locker room (yes, there were locker rooms in Roosevelt Stadium where Corps could get changed before and after a show) to change, Father Wojo and members of Jersey City's finest came busting into the locker room and wanted to arrest members of the Skyliners for (get this) "inciting the crowd to riot". The cops actually had there hands on there side arms. Luckily one of the members in the baritone line, Vincent "Jim" Salamone was a gold shield from Brooklyn and handled the situation and nothing came of the "charges". True story. Siglow :)
  3. No apologies necessary here Pat.......... we're just all remembering Great Bari Lines that's all..... hopefully nobody gets their panties tied in a knot!!
  4. :) This post was made on RAMD and with screen name SIGLOW's permission, I cut and pasted it to here. Fred The first Dream Contest in 1949 was almost rained out. It was finally held in the Jersey City Armory. The only reason why the Reilly Raiders won the show was because their affabled drill instructor, one "Wild" Bill Hooton, instructed them to "march at a half step". You see the dimensions of the armory were shorter then a regulation football field. All of the other competing Corps were banging into walls because they were taking a full 28 inch (or there abouts) step. "Wild" Bill showed his genius that day, otherwise it would have been the New York Skyliners who would have won the first Dream Contest. Siglow :)

  8. "It's a different world now. We have better equipment and are much more focused on the little musical nuances that make a big difference, so I do not think that we are comparing apples to apples here. The 60s-mid90s are quite a bit different than now." Back in the 60's-mid-70's there was crap for equipment..guys worrying about getting bad notes ON a horn, OUT of the horn with slides, rotaries, lips etc..... a lot of BS for a horn player to deal with... 70's-mid 90's were spent with arrangers trying to get a lot of flats and sharps etc. into their arrangements... and lots more drill-wise.....then all the sudden the instruments got wonderful but still keyed in G, then 3 valves... and now...viola!!!! we have all the corps swiching to Bb AND NO...... RIGHT NOW THEY ARE NOT AS LOUD AS G INSRUMENTS! That will probably take a couple years for lines to get used to them! I really think everyone from ALL the different "Eras" understands all of this! But it's a Thread like this that gets everyone together so they can say, Oh SKY 82, Hurcs 69, Cabs 76 Bush 92,MBI, Bucs 05, WOW, STILL have not heard froma Renegade!!!!!!!!!! ANYWAY THIS THREAD BRINGS BACK MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY!!!

  20. So what you're saying Ron, is that when YOU went to school Kentucky was on WHAT side of the map??? East Coast or West Coast...so much for the "Geography Lesson". In reference to your statement about "Yes, we West Coast boyz DO treat our women well.....especially in The Kingsmen Alumni Corps. And if you have to even ask why I give you 3 good reasons: KINGSMEN COLOR GUARD." I'm really pretty sure that Penny being the Musician that she is...doesn't take THAT OFFER very seriously!!!!!!!!! I also don't think it's very appropriate to be talking trash about your EX girlfriend from NJ!
  21. Ron, I have been a perfect gentleman on this site... ... I HAVE been respectful to Penny! I think she looks absolutely gorgeous and told her so. If you check back to my post...I did say a tasteful bathing suit pic, and that is what she provided! I also don't like the reference to "bray like donkey" with the not too subtle reference of calling us on the East (Right) Coast, ###eS! This site and this thread are for FUN, so please leave the "Politically Correct" post's to kid's will ya????
  22. I hear Ya Keith....I Second the motion.......now the for the Vote, All Those In Favor Say Aye!!!!!!!!!! All those opposed say Naye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^0^ ^0^ I would ASSUME this to be an overwhelming AYE vote but let's see!!!!!!!!!
