  1. I don't see it as a waste of time myself. I also am in a career that is FAR from drum corps or even music in general. Our staff at the time always told us our time in drum corps is time in fantasy land. and, that the real world awaits us on the other side of the experience. Sometimes we have to find the time to do what we really want. Making ourselves find that time is the trick. Life is too short for coulda woulda, shoulda. I'm not critisizing you or your feelings they are another point of view and are as valid as anything else. to me the memories and the friendships made and even family gained(met my wife in corps) are well worth the price of admission. it's late so i'll leave it at that for now. good night all. :)
  2. amen to that. A lot of times we have to remind ourselves of what adversity is and how we dealt with it. How did we get through it? No a/c, No cell phones, No internet. Incredible heat in the midwest and south during tours. Birimgham, Alabama in 88 comes to mind. This activity tends to forge a persons character. I could go on and on but nuff said for now :)
  3. I seem to remember the spirit of atlanta marching piston rotor contras in the mid to late 80's who knows my memory is not what it used to be :sshh:
  4. Hi tim. We are both doing well. we now have 2 kids a 5 yr old boy and 2 yr old girl. we are living in the middle of nowhere(oklahoma panhandle) it's really great to find you all here. kinda like a homecoming. b**bs i'll fill ya alll in more later gotta go take care of the kids. :) p.s. the missus reads here too and will want to put her .02 cents in later
  5. good for them... ^OO^ we need ALL the corps we can get.
  6. I have been browsing here ever since I found this site. I want to take the oppertunity to just say thank you to all of my corps mates. and to all the others who shared the same expriences even though we were in different corps and different times. Placement, scores and all that pales when set against the friendships and family that you gain in this activity. I myself have been away for several years until I finally attended a show last summer (wichita, ks). The one thing I learned was that I missed the activity and many of you very much over the years. Anyway thanks It was some of the best summers of my life. p.s. I hope this is in the right place. if not forgive me.
  7. kinda sucked having a window that did not close easily.. or waking up on the bus and everyone is GONE...at least it was easy to find my sleeping bag(it was all by itself in the lot.)

  9. I gues i'm lucky my wife is also a corps alum(she marched in '88) so no problem there understanding the obesssion. we did however not go to any shows for a LOOOONG time. Life etc. got in the way. we will be following more closely now B)
