  2. Hey guys!! Thanks so much for the kind words!! @GeneralTsoChicken ~ You have us horribly confused with another mobile repair shop. We have actually documented what you are referring to via photo's etc when we would get instruments to re-repair. I would never allow myself or any of my guys to let a horn leave my trailer without being properly wiped and cleaned. (We all went to Red Wing to learn the proper way to repair instruments.) We actually even hand rag the areas we work on so it would appear we had never repaired the joint we worked on. On vary rare occasions will we not spend detailed time cleaning up and polishing the area we're working on. Typically if it is at a show sight or the busses are about to leave. The photo's I have of other repair work however would indicate whomever attempted repair did not properly clean the area they soldered. When the area is not properly cleaned prior to soldering the solder does not stick, nor will it go into a joint to form the bond. With this poorly attempted service the solder will glob all over and create a mess. Again, not our style. We repair joints with the thought that we will not have to worry about the joint breaking again for the rest of the season. This is contrary to poorly attempting a repair that breaks the following day. So, I wanted to state for the record that your comments about our mobile repairs are simply not true. Yes we are sometimes limited in capabilities in our mobile trailer, but we are quite well equipped and have actually hand made small parts and braces in the trailer with our tooling. We even have a small precision lathe that has allowed us to modify mouthpieces in the past. If you want to make sure you're not confusing us with another mobile repair shop, feel free to visit our facebook fan page where you'll find pictures of my goofy mug: B.A.C. Horn Doctor Facebook Page --Mike C GeneralTso - where and when did you march? We just started repairing horns with our trailer starting in 2006...

  5. While the corps has adopted the newer 'more evolved and appropriate for today' meaning of "Best American Corps", the original BAC evolved from the Crusaders 'back in the day' when drum corps was not as 'colorful' as it is now. Years ago, the Boston Crusaders consisted of mostly Boston Area kids. The corps was actually from South Boston. For those who don't know the reputation of 'South Boston', that was a tougher part of town. Consisting of mainly Irish 'hooligans'. ;o) Let's just say it's easy for an Irish hot tempered kid from the hood to get into a scuffle... (I'm an Irish hot tempered guy, so I can say that) The Corps became known as the Corps you didn't want to mess with. They were tough, and the bond among members was and continues to be as tight as the Irish mob. If you messed with one Sader, you had the whole horn line and drum line on your butt. To summarize, they became known as the "Bad ### Crusaders". (Pretty sure they can say that on the Simpson's, so I reckon it's safe here.) ;o) I wouldn't try to cut their ranks!!

  8. Thank you so much guys for the very kind words. It all boils down to two facts: 1. I absolutely love what I do 2. I have a passion for this activity. I look forward to continuing on the road to help you guys! Now, back to the horns we have for some of these Corps... We still have a lot of good deals in our loft! --Mike C
  9. Hey guys! Just a friendly reminder that the shop you see on the road over the summer fixing horns for the World Class Corps (B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc.) is helping horn lines sell their used horn lines. We are going through each instrument, ultrasonically cleaning and chemically cleaning, removing dents and setting up so they are ready to go!!! We have a full variety of instruments available at very competitive prices. Please keep in mind the Corps rely on selling this equipment to supply new instruments every couple of years. If you or anyone/program you know might be interested in some good quality used equipment please contact the B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc. shop!! info@bachorndoctor.com Thank you so much! Sincerely, Michael Corrigan www.horndr.com
  10. Hello all!! It actually was a pretty nice sounding horn.... I had it displayed at the trailer during finals week for sale and had some people interested but nothing panned out... What better to do with a horn than to trash it on camera for all to see. I'm not worried about it. If I need if for a gig I can always fix her back up. ^OO^ Those who don't believe me should check out my shop next time their in the Kansas City Area or find me on the road. - I'll throw down my skill!! lol Thanks for checking out the vid. I was planning on posting it here anyhow. Glad it's giving folks that warm fuzzy feeling at the end. And again THANKS to all of you that stopped by the shop this summer. I love drum corps, and enjoy being a part of the activity. --Corrigan HornDr.com
  11. LOL! I didn't realize it was you Jeff!! I'm sure I'll have the chance to see the horns. --Mike
  12. Hey! Figured I'd chime in real quick.... You need to defiantly overhaul the Olds first. The Bundy cornet and trumpet would honestly not be something I'd sink money into. You could buy a real nice pro horn for the cost of overhauling those two student level horns. There are a lot of custom trumpet guys who will use the valve block off an Olds Ambassador, slap on their own bell and leadpipe, and call it good to go. There are several things you could do to soup up the Olds while you're having it overhauled to that wouldn't add a great deal of cost to the work in the end. If you need any pointers let me know. --Mike Corrigan www.HornDr.com President B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc. Olathe, Kansas
  13. lol Donny! That's what you get when you run into this guy! We don't mess around. Told you it would hold didn't I!! As for the salute to 27... When ever the announcer would be reading the bingo balls you'd occasionally get " I-27... Two... Seven..." All of the B.A.C. Volunteers would stop what they were doing in the room, turn toward the announcer and salute. Was a riot. We all looked forward to paying our tribute during bingo nights... PS- Look out for next year... We're going to offer a full drum corps guarantee on all solder joints performed by B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc. Staff!! (Meaning as long as that horn is being marched in Drum Corps it's covered.) Also, the sale of Gold Bond was a smashing hit this year per request. We may offer the black bottle to 3rd year vets next summer. As was informed this past summer... You have to have marched at least four years to even see the black bottle. Very hard to find... :o) --Corrigan
  14. No worries there!!! I don't plan on leaving any time soon. It was obvious especially after this summer that DCI needs to have a qualified repair tech on tour. It may get more diffacult for me to do this down the road with the momentum my shop has in other directions, however I owe too much to Drum Corps to leave the activity at this point. If anything I want to encourage other trained technicians to get involved on the road so we can handle more ground! As we would have done at Bostons Bingo Night back in the day... I salute you 27
  15. Hello! I am just writing to inform you that B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc. will be handling the sale of several King horn lines from this past 2007 season. In the mix includes some of the newer model King Tubas, and Boston Crusaders Dynasty Tubas. Every horn will be professionally cleaned via ultrasonic and chemicals. The valve felts, waterkey corks, and any nessisary springs will be replaced. Any and all repairs will be made to the instruments. (Special conditions may apply to certain tubas.) I am a Master Musical Instrument Craftsman/Repairman and have been opperating a custom Brass Pro shop for the last three years in the Kansas City Area. We custom build instruments, and perform repairs from minor to complete restoration of brass and woodwinds. Being located right in the Heart of America, arrangments can be made for delivering lots of instruments. Shipping will vary. You can contact me directly at info@bachorndoctor.com. Please visit our website for more information about the shop!! www.HornDr.com --Mike Corrigan President B.A.C. Horn Doctor Inc.
