  1. I found that the quality was good when it was small sized. When I tried to maximize it the picture it got really fuzzy.
  2. Hey Mike, Looking forward to seeing Sonnor. Always one of my favorites. What is your show this year? Jeremy
  3. Anyone else from CGP going to be in Salem this weekend?
  4. I have had my genuine King for over 7 years and spin it almost daily. It has never shown any signs of breaking.
  5. If you don't like DCI you should only post in the historical corps and DCA sections of this site.
  6. Everyone said this in 2004 when amps first passed...yet they are still on this forum complaining about it... and still attending shows. I actually hate the idea of keyboards etc invading our activity. However I still support an activity that not only changed my life forever but the lives of so many others.
  7. According to DCI.org, both Surf and Spartans have been approved for Div 1 competition starting in 2009.
  8. unfortunately the trend for success in the Scholastic World class is to find your niche and stick to. Bishop Kearney stuck to the same formula for 5 years with different costumes and props and was rewarded for it. James Logan stuck to a formula for the first 8 years and was rewarded for it. Don't get me wrong I loved every single show that both of these guards put out...however they were all very similiar. I applaud guards like Avon and Center Grove who re-invent themselves every year. It makes things more interesting.
  9. Just to start, I never marched Phantom or have been affiliated with them. In my opinion as a guard designer Phantom has been under-scored in the last 3 seasons. They have had one of the best designed, best performed and cleanest guard programs ever since Adam Sage took the reigns. If I was judging I would have given them top guard honors. Adam is known for working with a top notch team. I am sure that even with the exit of a few staff members they will be replaced with new staff equally strong or even better.
  10. Onyx Open, Fahrenheit Open and FIU all dropped back to IA last week.
  11. Every year when the band I teach goes to state finals in Lowell MA it is in the same stadium that I aged out in. Everytime I walk on the field with the kids I get a bit emotional.
  12. Other guards to place high in the first year of competition recently were the Santa Clara Vanguard (6th in 2006) and Phantom Regiment (7th in 2007).
  13. I think that Empire would be another example similiar to Erte. They were basically Patriots kids and Patriots staff.
  14. I saw a set of these on www.theguardroom.com just last week.
  15. Did anyone attend this show? Any reviews to share?
  16. The band hall sells Poly China Silk. They do not sell 100% China Silk.
  17. Lincolway did do a frog show in 1997. The did not make finals though. The show was really cute and had some great movement choreography. If I remember correctly what hurt them that year was weak equipment skills.
  18. The band hall sells poly china silk not the real thing
  19. The thing to remember that from an equipment point of view "A" class is about training. This is the reason that the sheets were adjusted to 30% vocab / 70% excellence for the A class.
  20. I would send it back. I have had my king sabre for almost seven years and it has been dropped on concrete, gym floors etc without ever bending.
  21. It will be nice to see Centerville bring back the charm that made them so special in 2003 and 2004. The last few years have been good shows but lacked that special spark of the previous years.
  22. This question has bothered me for years. I do not think that a guard that can throw sevens is an A guard. In fact I would not expect an Open Guard to be able to throw a seven. The problem is that year after year we continue to see guards in A class finals performing Open Class skills. Perfect evidence of this is the number of guards that WGI promoted from A to Open this year. One of the criteria for promotion is skills performed at the level of the next highest class.
  23. I have a 39" Elite and love the way it spins. My students have had troubles with them breaking very easily. I also find that the straps snap often. I also have a 39" Premier rifle. It is much heavier but more durable.
  24. Back when I marched in the 90's Div II / III corps from the Midwest did a full tour. First tour was DCM second tour was DCI. We had at least 30 shows. Losing DCM was a terrible thing for Div II/ III.
