  1. Any more news on when exactly the DVD's are coming?
  2. Right now, the Raiders have plans to march 92 members and become Div II (according to our staff). It could change depending on how camps go.
  3. I'm a senior in high school, and my band director loves drum corps-he's a drum guy who marched Caballeros and is a percussion judge in DCI. Unfortunately, I'm the only person in my high school to ever march drum corps. Hopefully that'll change soon.
  4. I'm going through drum corps withdrawal too...I ordered a DVD and I can't wait for it to get here!!!
  5. When I marched Raiders this summer, we had one percussion judge shout out, "BASS DRUMS ROCK MY WORLD!" in our closer during either a bass run or a big unison pattern (I don't quite remember which). It was really funny. I've also heard some judges from marching band shows make some interesting noises on tapes when they like something, but I can't remember any lol.
  6. It would certainly be nice to see some people who may have marched Crossmen come to Raiders instead!
  7. I'm going to mention something that's not been mentioned before...I only got to see the top 6 DI corps at quarterfinals, and I'd seen Phantom, the Cadets, Crossmen, and Boston Crusaders once before that...but I loved Cavies and I've watched the ESPN2 broadcast a couple times...and the one part in their closer where their trumpets are all together in the center of the rest of the hornline, which is swinging around them, that's a really cool brass moment. Their trumpets have a lick, and after a couple measures their leads play it up the octave, then they all have a lick and then a hit. The other part I really liked was in their ballad they had a couple really huge chords. Now I don't know anything about brass but those really stuck out to me. I also LOVED every single second of Phantom's brass!
  8. I guess no one has a review? Anyway I was excited to finally be seeing Surf, ECJ and Spartans. Raiders have been at the same competitions as them, but until Saturday I only got to see the very end of Surf's show. Anyway I loved seeing all three of these corps! I didn't really get a chance to view anything as I was sitting low and it was hard to hear but all you guys did a great job. Also, the Bridgemen were SPECTACULAR! Unfortunately I was in the bathroom when Surf came out to play with you guys at the end but you guys did a great job. As for Div III, well now I'm anxious to see Citations' show because they were only 6.7 behind us. I haven't gotten to see their show yet but apparently they are doing well so I'd love to get a chance to hear them. I did get a chance to see part of Spirit but that was it.
  9. Just thought I'd clear this up...Raiders got a 69.7 and Citations got a 63.0. So it wasn't as close as you say. But I'm interested to see how Citations will stack up this year against some other good Div III corps, it would appear that they're pretty good this year.
  10. I suppose I can't really judge how good Fever is because I haven't seen them, and I haven't seen Citations either even though Raiders have competed twice against them, so maybe Citations does have a shot. I would still go with Fever over them, but we'll see come finals.
  11. I don't know all that much about Dutch Boy but come on, do you really think Yamato is going to finish below Citations? Yamato is a top 3 corps and Citations, though they may have a good guard, lost to HYPE twice last weekend (as well as us Raiders once). Hype, if I'm not mistaken, was a bottom Div III corps last year. I don't think Citations will get top 6. Fever has a much better shot.
  12. Unfortunately our home show this weekend was cancelled due to the fact that we couldn't find a facility to have it in. We will still be at the Wildwood show saturday.
  13. Thank you! We had a LOT of stuff happen last week and to have a good show was a huge relief.
  14. Well being in the Raiders pit I can tell you that from where I was our show was a lot better on Saturday than it was the Saturday before that, even though it could've been better (a LOT less timing issues) and we added some stuff to the show as well. We had a couple practices during last week (it was our mini tour) and it seems to have paid off. I did not see Dutch Boys, so I couldn't tell you anything about them.
  15. Well from the pit I can say that the crowd did receive our MA performance much better than our allentown performance. There were actually quite a few people standing and cheering after our performance. Anyway we did much better at our MA show than allentown, and I suppose that was reflected in the scores. By the way, what's your name? You said you were second mellophone and I was wondering which one you were.
  16. It was a pretty big Div II/III competition and I was wondering if anyone had one.
  17. Thanks for the compliments-Raiders pit member right here! This show wasn't great but we had a much better one last night at Springfield MA after a week of mini tour, and I think you will be surprised at how much we've improved next week at our home show!
