A couple great open class shows in this regard would be the Oregon Crusaders 06 and East Coast Jazz 06. Some great solos in both of them!

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but in Div III in 05, the Raiders beat Taipei in Finals because of a penalty (I think Taipei was on the field too long). They did, however, beat them outright in grand finals.

The Underwater selection is possibly going to be O Magnum Mysterium (a choral piece by Morten Lauridsen arranged for corps). They said they weren't locked on it yet though.

Raiders had 7 last year not including finals week, this year we have 15.

Wait, by 60 auditionees, you mean just new people (not including vets), right?

Yeah, just download all the forms on the website that you have to sign and bring to camp (I don't remember exactly which ones and I'm too lazy to look right now but go to membership info, PDF downloads, and print and sign everything on there that asks you to).

It's overnight. If for some reason you can't stay for Sunday, make sure you contact a staff member about it (I can't stay Sunday so that's what I did).

I'm not going to say too much but I think that DCI definitely isn't catering as much to the fans as pro sports are. One thing that I don't recall being mentioned yet, though, is pro sports athletes are being paid millions of dollars to entertain an audience, but drum corps members are paying thousands of dollars to march corps. I don't really want to get involved in this argument but I think it's a little bit more reasonable for a professional sports player to have to abide by rules meant not for the benefit of the players, but for the fans, than for a keyboard player to not be amped just because it didn't benefit the fans, which will force him to play the instrument unnaturally. Obviously there's a lot of things wrong with my example, obviously there are other reasons for amping a pit than for just benefitting the players. The point is, though, that there are reasons why DCI rule proposals are more to the benefit of the corps than the fans. It seems that people pretty much agree on that but I just wanted to throw that one point in there. I don't want to get much into the argument though.

I called it missiles because I didn't know what to call it but a couple sets were reminiscent of missiles. I think my company front at the end is pretty cool though.

Question: Is there a way we can have access to see all the shows? Right now you have to scroll through them and there's no listing of them...or am I missing it?

THIS IS AWESOME! I'm not a drill writer and I only ever marched one show, freshman year high school (bass 5) so I'm a relative noob, but still, this is fun!

Actually what I meant to ask was how will semifinals and finals work now? It used to be top 9 in each division made semis, and top 3 in each division made finals with the next 6 best corps making it as well. How will that work this year? Will semifinals be 18 corps?

Anyone know what the format will be for finals week this year, since Div II/III no longer exists?

Nevermind. Anyway, I can't wait to find out shows over the next few months!

The new percussion handbook is now up, and WOW did they go all out! I got cut from Bluecoats and now I plan on marching Raiders this season. Hopefully I can improve enough to march world class next year but this year I'm stoked about Raiders!

Yeah, they were talking about it in the World Class Forum DVD thread. Apparently DCI said beforehand that they weren't recording pre-shows or something. Not exactly sure, go in that thread to check.
