  1. Plaid tears. Bill was one of the good guys. We will all play together on the other side.
  2. I must say " another great review of a drum corps event J.C. . Makes me feel like I was there again. Plymouth will alway be one of the gigs I will never forget. I'm not sure but I think we went in 1996, 97, 99 and 01.( maybe someone has the records ) I have the banners from those years and maybe the 2001 should be with another group. I do know we marched it in summer type weather and once in a noreaster gale. Dates I may forget, events like this will be remembered forever. Thanks for the refresher. MOON
  3. I added my 2cents because the first 3 people talk about rocking the boat and having the championships in CA. Sorry it didn't fit well at the treads current bend. Thanks for reading it. I'm still just looking for way we can get together.
  4. DCI wants All age corps because they have killed off so many II & III corps they are looking for new warm up corps for the top corps. Who wants to go on at 6:00 in 100 degree heat every show? Do you think they would treat all age any differently?
  5. Why can't people see that moving the championships or corps is not a good answer at this time. The east deserves the role if they can get the rules even. No corps wants to move very far. The cost of moving a corps is high every where. Regional shows with Judges who can give good reads is the way everyone can get to the ballgame cost effectivly. Let a few judges go around the country (payed by the corps holding the shows that weekend) and give honest reads. Corps who do this get votes in DCA nomatter where they place. PLEASE!!! lets pull this together for the future of drum corps.
  6. Agree. Gets my vote. I just got E-mailed a 2 min. clip from your tube. It is Phantom doing a warm up. My monitor is really dark so I can see very little. I am not a PR fan but when this thing played the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Try to do that with artsey, fartsey visual cr*p.
  7. I did. My comment was " stick your head in the sand and run for the DCI board. You would be a good fit".
  8. Stick your head in the sand and run for the DCI board, you'll fit right in.
  9. Try to make it that simple when you are making the prelims schedule. Add in the 2 or 4 show rule, the scores that count ( only in Aug) rule, and others....
  10. Yours is the crest on roids. It took balls to get one that enlarged. Chester settin' the standard.
  11. I've already seen a few of my Kiltie family post thier ink. Don't forget to tell them that 15 of us wear the same crest in ink. ( not all in the same places).
  12. Anyone read the numbers in Drum Corps World this month? Again, D.C.I. has lost corps. The number of corps in 1972 when D.C.I. started was not given. This list starts in 1976 when the total of junior corps was 396! The list of corps in 2006 was 65! Yes, that was not a typo, ONLY 65! ( and only 55 of them made the competition field ). Is anyone concerned that D.C.I. is only working for a small number of corps? If the drum corps activity is going to servive, it needs a new steward. That brings me to the second set of numbers found on page 3. No fewer than 152 all age corps performed in 2006. Maybe we should have a pole......Do all age corps believe that.... 1) D.C.A. can step up to the task of organizing us into the strongest force in drum corps? 2) or is something else needed to bring us together into one unstopable force?
  13. Again... To get valid scores in other regions you don't have to move whole drum corps. Just move in a few different judges for each weekend. Scores and corps become more comparable. Again... To make participation equal votes..... One vote if you make a DCA show, Two votes if you hold a DCA show, One vote if you go to prelims, Two votes if you make the top ten. The best, most active corps gets the most votes. A corps (no matter how good ) can only get one or two votes if they are not very involved with DCA. It make no difference if you are open or A. EDIT..... I have seen some unhappy posts from all areas. Please don't make blanket statements. Some midwesterners are just putting out some ideas to try and make all age the strongest organization running Drum Corps. Along the way congradulating the eastern corps for putting on years of good championships. Not looking to move them. (The corps or the championships). I really enjoy my weekend out to the championships. Bonding with my friends on tour.
  14. Do not work on moving the DCA championships. Do not work on getting the east to travel. It is not needed and just a backwards step to holding down all age costs, time, and travel. Work on getting good judges and usable reads in regional shows. Work on getting the most fair set of rules for everyone. This is what is needed most for the expansion of D.C.A. Just an idea here....If you want the votes to reflect participation. One vote if you go to any regionl DCA show. Two votes if you hold a DCA show. One vote if you go to the championships. Two votes if you make the top ten. Maybe one vote to the corps who goes to the most shows. A corps that shows up for just the championships can only get one or two votes. The most active corps can get six or seven votes.
  15. Who wants to help me finish this. It is the headlines for the future Drum Corps World in 2020. EXTRA! EXTRA! DC___ 1)A. 2)I. HAS A____ 1) HOSTILE TAKEOVER 2) FRIENDLY TAKEOVER 3) MERGER WITH DC___1)A. 2)I. DCA CORPS AND FANS ______1) HAPPY 2)MAD. This is not a joke! It was not a joke to the American legion, not a joke to the V.F.W., not a joke to DCM. I hope for the sake of drum corps DCA wins. I've seen whats left when DCI takes over. Lets work together to make it happen!
