  1. Disregard my post. Of course it tells me when I post it that there are two unread replies on the thread.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIbLqa6iwj4
  3. That's Pat. He was the center snare from 2015. He marched 2014 as well (Next to center snare). This is his age out year and yes he is definitely a beast. That whole snare line is beefy this year.
  4. That music though....pure fire! The technicality, the aggression and the passion. I was 100% optimistic about 2015 and it still exceeded my expectations no matter what place they came in at finals! I have a feeling that 2016 is going to be more of the same. I cannot wait to see this show come this summer!
  5. Tekk, my post wasn't directed towards you or anything that you said. I was simply just reflecting on what George Dixon said previously.
  6. +1. That's exactly what I thought about when I read the question......the narration. The electronics have been awesome when called for but the narration in my opinion just takes it to a whole other unnecessary level. 2011, 2012 and 2015 I think were great seasons of the use of electronics by The Cadets.
  7. Yeah....and they did consistently win drums night to night for the most part throughout the season until finals. I think that says a lot.
  8. They'll be good as usual. Too bad they got hosed last year at finals. That battery was en fuego!
  9. I see what you did there and I like....
  10. Haha, I thought you'd like that Tekk
  11. Holy Contras!!! Brass sounds solid, drumline is LIT as usual and sounds like we might be able to hear the low brass this season. I'm pumped! Does anyone know what GH was referring to when he said that they had to make some difficult decisions about the percussion section and etc?
  12. YES!!! I was in the middle of watching it and fell asleep. Woke up and went to watch it again and at about 4 minutes in, it stopped and said "This video is private." I was starting to get into that music and imagining Jay Bocook writing some AWESOME parts. It's ok, I can wait until the camp videos start coming out
  13. I know this has nothing to do with the topic at hand but Cappybara, let it be known that I am thoroughly looking forward to your new signature after all of the show titles have been announced
  14. That's funny that you say that Tekk because you have sparked a rather nostalgic moment for me. It takes me back to my first audition for Gino in 2002. He heard about a few of us from the previous season from the staff and etc, I auditioned for him and I totally BOMBED it. I mean, just sucked. Probably my worst playing and execution of any kind and it was simply because I had heard about Gino and how respected he was and I clammed up. I'll never forget how awesome he was about it though. He never made you feel like you should be beating yourself up. He simply looked at me, smiled and said "Well buddy, we all have those moments when we don't perform our best. No musician ever has a perfect performance." I made the hornline thankfully but looking back on it now, I totally get what you mean about him being intimidating. As calm as he is, he put the fear of God in me and to this day, I consider him to be an idol because of the influence that he had on me as a person and as a musician during the 2 seasons that he was my caption head. I'm sure you know exactly what it is that I'm referring to. 2003 was much more relaxed. It was more like "alright buddy, you've done this before.....show me what you got!"
  15. Hey Tekk, if I'm not mistaken, I think that Darryl wrote the drill for BAC 2013 "Rise". I think.....could be wrong. Also, he was the designer/writer of visual at Claudia Taylor Johnson Marching Band. They go to BOA and all of that stuff. There's some good stuff going on in both shows if you get a chance to check it out. Also, if I'm wrong about any of this information.....someone please correct me. Thanks.
  16. I saw what you did there and I laughed for a couple of minutes. Clever clever. On a different note though, I do agree about the guard being cleaner this season. I watched a couple of videos of Kristy Templin's guards and holy crap. I'm very excited about the guard this season and I am far from a colorguard homer.
  17. Ah come on Tekk. The suspense about the all black last year was killing us
  18. I agree with this statement only. It is sad and pisses me off that the season is coming to an end! This season has been exciting and has kept a lot of us on our toes since June 18th when the season started. I LOVED THE CADETS 2015 SHOW!! It has been one of all time favorite Cadets shows. I rank it up there with 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2011, and 2013 (some of which weren't even gold medals that year). The kids wanted this show, they got it and in my eyes they performed the absolute crap out of it despite how the judges evaulate it. I actually "get" the show and love every aspect of it. Unfortunately, I never marched Cadets but I do know how hard they work and no matter which place they come in on Saturday, it should be rewarded on and off of the field. That goes for all of the corps out there. Each summer those kids pay a lot of money, get sore muscles, sunburns, burn a ton of calories, get dead tired and rehearse relentlessly. I think that sometimes we forget about why they march DCI. It's not always necessarily for the finals placement but for the experience, the comradery, the feeling of accomplishment after working together as a unit. The whole bashing of a design team and etc is far from necessary because at the end of the day, (Disclaimer: this is MY opinion) the judges are a part of the DCI political system. Each judge has their favorites and it shows from night to night no matter which group you are. You never hear anyone say "Yeah the judges really did a great job evaluating on finals night of year xxxx". You'll hear "Oh yeah, that show was incredible" or "That year was my favorite all time show". I personally hated the Cadets 2014 show but you know what, at the end of the season those kids still performed their hearts out despite all of the "chesse" that we might label the show as. The organization chose a show based on what they wanted to showcase and they did it very well, just like this with this season. With all of the negativity that is constantly displayed on this site and thread, I can clearly see why some people are choosing to opt out for a little while. A lot of us have failed to bring forth the main focus of choosing to partake in the DCI activity and the positive rather than the little things that bother us about a show. The things that are CONSTANTLY pointed out after every performance as if we have a say in the design of these shows and the ideas that the stuff put forth to the members. With that said, I wish every corps the best come finals. No matter what the results are, the kids earned the respect and recognition!
  19. Ah man. That stinks! I hope that he's alright too. Injuries have somewhat plagued the battery this season.
  20. Has anyone been able to check them out in rehearsals in the last couple of days? Have they been cleaning up nicely at all? Enough to make a surge as they usually do?
