  1. Didn't Star get beat after winning the semi's on their last year? I could be mistaken.
  2. No matter how tight the security, someone will figure a way around it. It has always been that way.
  3. I couldn't agree more. It just seems natural for Indiana to have a Corps. Marching music is huge in Indiana. Kids would flock from all corners of the state to join. I say RIP Star, lets form a whole new organization!
  4. It's a shame that terrorist scum disrupt lives like they do. I would be angry too, so angry I'd want to hunt them down and take care of 'em myself. I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to make it.
  5. Hello All! I will be making the trek from southern Indiana to Madison for finals on Saturday. I want to try and make the best of the time I have in Madison on Saturday. I want to look at and buy souvies and get a bite to eat before it all starts at 6. What time do you think would be best to get to the stadium. I am parking at the Aliant center and being shuttled, how long can I expect to wait in traffic after it is all over? And the most important question of all.....will there be a retreat? Thanks everyone!
  6. I just hope I won't be sitting next to this guy >> -
  7. The picture I saw of the stadium looks like it is all bleachers....my butt is not looking forward to that.
  8. First time I ever came across Drum Corps....flipping through channels after band practice in 1993 and caught the tail end of the PBS DCI finals broadcast. Very curious at this point... Made sure to catch the entire 1994 PBS DCI show....my first love was the Madison Scouts Malaga never seen anything like it. Then just a few minutes later, I cheated on Madison and found the Blue Devils...My Spanish Heart simply amazing! I was sold right then. My first live show was kind of a disappointment... Normal, IL BOA Summer Band Symposium...it rained and the Cavies were there :( I couldn't see a thing sitting in the back on the floor and the sound was horrible in the fieldhouse during their standstill. The year of the planets of all things. My first real show was in 1996 at the same BOA event, it didn't rain and got to see the Madison Scouts Drum Corp Fans Dream Part Dos! and the Cavaliers. Never joined a Corp, I played a woodwind instrument and never got around to learning brass. Boy do I wish I would have known about drum corps earlier or I would have picked a different instrument in band class. Todd
  9. Being from southern Indiana, near Louisville KY, the DCI finals have always been too far to travel to no matter where they were held. Drum Corps was non-existent in the Louisville area for quite some time and in the recent years they have held a show in Louisville since the new Papa John's Cardinal stadium was built. Hmm I vote for that venue if the new stadium isn't built by 2008. Hey nothing wrong with a little wishful thinking! Anyways, Indy is a great city, I've traveled up there for the DCI regional in the past and the Indiana State Marching Band Finals several times. I think it would be a perfect city to hold it. There is so much to do there between shows too, shopping, places to eat and I feel very safe walking around the city too. A perfect city for DCI. Most of all I'm glad to see the dome go. Its a great stadium but as far as sound quality...blah all the sounds blend together, this will be a great stadium for all the events held there. I say ^OO^ way to go DCI!! Todd Oh btw... 1st post on DCP Forums!
