  1. or maybe i just sat too close to that Cadets encore last night, and now can't hear worth a crap!
  2. So I bought a couple Cadets DVDs (Cadets and Xmen Fan Faves/Cadets 1990-96) last night at MTSU...got back popped 'em in my home theater and was extremely disappointed with the audio quality, both the earlier AND later years. Lots of static in the highs, muddy bass; overall, sounds like a VHS taping of the PBS or ESPN telecast. What's the deal? Has anyone else experienced this?
  3. 1997 Cadets had one of the best brass books of all time, in my opinion. I remember sitting in the stands at finals with mom and dad (I was twelve at the time) and just being absolutely BLOWN AWAY by that opening run, as well as everything else in the proceeding 11 minutes. I'm pretty sure seeing the "Sparkes fly" on that muggy night in Orlando inspired me to play brass!
  4. Phantom Regiment + Gladiator soundtrack = minor key glory
  5. Hearing "Rocky Point Holiday" by the '07 Cadets inside the arc before their Lexington performance.
  6. Riiight. Because that's what you do. I forgot. Lol.
  7. You have a "right" to defend anything you choose, and I never said otherwise. The credibility of your defense, however, varies according to your experience with that which you are defending. Thus, towards someone like yourself, I am highly skeptical.
  8. I'm calling your opinion "a bit premature", not asking for DCP to be shut down or for you to stop saying what you think . But I do think most drum corps fans would agree that live-and-in-person is just a tad different than a live Windows media stream. It is what it is and nothing more.
  9. First of all, I wear boxers b**bs, thanks. Second, what I said has nothing necessarily to do with narration. Opinions for ANY show, narration or no, are a bit premature if one has only seen it in "webcast" form (DVDs with high quality audio might be another story).
  10. Ever heard of the concept "show, don't tell" in art? In this regard, I feel that the Cadets could be quite a bit more creative in how they present their message.
  11. OMFG, how in the world can you defend so adamently a show you haven't even seen live?! Seriously. Sad. Btw, for anyone who cares about an opinion from someone who actually HAS seen the Cadets '07 live: fantastically uber-talented corps cheapened by tactless narration. Not ruined, but cheapened. Kinda like that brand new Mercedes Benz you saw the other day with Autozone rims...
  12. Oh yeah, PR's 'Overture to Romeo and Juliet' in 1988. Goosebump city.
  13. The last 40 seconds or so of Cadets' 1986 Leonard Bernstein show: classic Cadets/drum corps 200+ bpm stretch PR's silent drill opener in 1999.
  14. Firebird: Cavaliers 1988...for now. I have always LOVED the last 40 seconds or so of that show. GREAT wrap up with those huge drums and blazing runs! Barber (all): Star 1993. The "chameleon's" last morph was ahead of it's time in 1993 and is a classic in every sense of the word now. The Planets: Cavaliers '95 over Cavies '85. The expression on the saluting DM's face after the final release says it all. Sheherazade: SCV 2004. I laugh out of sheer glee whenever I listen to this.
  15. 1. Phantom Regiment 2. Santa Clara Vanguard 3. Blue Devils 4. Cadets 5. Cavaliers 6. Bluecoats 7. Carolina Crown 8. Boston Crusaders 9. Blue Knights 10. Crossmen 11. The Academy 12. Madison Scouts
  16. I have three tickets for Finals, and I only need two! So, I'm looking to trade. Mine are in section C. Call me at 865-216-4993 or email at jlamacc1@utk.edu Thanks, John
