  1. Most definetly. I look forward to next season :)
  2. I have no idea when, but they are getting up there. I see it happened before 2010, though. Gotta support my man's corps, too!
  3. I think what is happening that it may not be his fault ENTIRELY (I'm sure buses break down, AC is cut off, things dont get delivered on time) but what he HAS done, is blame other people for these things when he should have explained it in full.
  4. Whatever has happened has been confirmed. Whatever happens needs to happen. I hope CR stays in DCI, but there are things that need to change for this to happen. this post brought to you by the word "happen" :P
  5. Crown didn't seem to have such a bad time down South. We had our worst in Louisiana. Lots of the drumline and some members of the hornline threw up during those blocks. Still, my worst day of tour was Irmo, SC for FirstBEAT. We had ensemble in the stadium for three hours, and the humidity and heat just culmunated inside that stadium and I felt like passing out. Three kids did pass out in the runthrough. It was insane.
  6. This is absolutely terrible. I HATE seeing my corps fall like this. I want to be proud of Capital Regiment, after all, it's what has gotten me to where I am today, but I can't possibly be proud of an organization where such an evil man can be in charge. I loved the staff there when I marched, and they don't get nearly as much credit as they deserved. Derek Gipson came over to my corps warmup and we talked. I asked him about CR and his usual happy demenour went sour, and he looked so incredibly upset. Derek loved that corps. He was such a happy man, and even though I cant talk for how he was in the corps in 06, he looked incredibly upset over what had happened. Rick is tearing apart the very fabric of what CR is. edited in favor of getting this directly to the source, instead of airing dirty laundry
  7. I highly doubt Rick will ever make comment about anything. That's just how he is. Thank god I didn't order my member jacket, I probably never would have ended up with it, and would never have got a decent explanation.
  8. Oh believe me, they sure did. I hope you didn't take my post as saying they didn't. They were an excellent group of people and we really wanted them to succeed. They deserved to, and unfortunately they didn't. I understand that marching percussion is insanely competitve and that they don't get rewarded for just being a great group, but they were an awesome group of people to hang with (I rode the percussion bus) and I really hope they get the best thrown at them for next season. I know they can handle it. And I know they aren't going to let what happened this year bog them down.
  9. One story I heard was due in part to the new uniforms they got. I heard they got them, but then Rick had no ways of paying for them. I found it odd because I had always heard that CR was one of the more well off corps.
  10. The hornbook actually DID rival what Star of Indiana '93 did. If you listen to the beginning of the second tune it's exactly what the beginning of Star was that year. We were compared to Star 93 pretty much all year by our staff and even people in drum corps world. Not trying to put us UP there with Star, but it's what people were saying. And that hornbook was not easy in the least. It has very exposed parts and difficult things to accomplish. Mainly because the entire hornline would be playing the exact same rhythmn side to side and it would be hard to line up timing wise. As a member I am no means upset over the 8th place. We got what we got, and it was not totally percussions fault although it was a huge blow. The percussion caption seeped into every other caption. God love the drumline, they had the best rehearsal technique and were always on their stuff, but I heard that they had an easy book so that may have played into it. Whatever happened, it's the past. And what we've got in the past is the reaction we got on finals night. I'll never forget hearing the placement, and coming to attention. Then standing there for what felt like forever and getting that enourmous boo and then standing ovation. We were standing next to the Bluecoats, and all I could think about was "Wow, you guys had better watch out next year!" (I would have been thinking this if it were anyone else, really) Don't take this as a biased Crown member post. I loved BK's show, as well as liking pretty much every show in DCI this year. It's really hard NOT to like shows when you are doing the same thing those other corps are doing. I respect every corps for what they do and I care really less about the placements. We all accomplished what we went out to do, and thats all that matters. Placements will mean jack squat next season.
  11. I can't speak for anything that happened THIS summer, but I happened to have marched there myself in 2005. The director is a very big problem to the organization. I met many good people at that corps, and the staff was very good, but the director just did me in for leaving. He made very poor decisions, at times we DID go a 6 hour block without any kind of food (or at very least it would be one piece of orange or string cheese) If you talk to anyone who has left CR, Rick Bays would probably be one of their top reasons. It's funny, because I heard he was a mastermind at bringing the corps money, but look at what happened in 06. I honestly felt horrible for my corpsmates who stayed at CR because they are great people and did not deserve a drum corps experience that they had. No one deserves it.
