  1. I actually auditioned for two corps initially in 2006. The first corps I REALLY wanted to be a part of, they had just come off a record setting placement the year before, and in 2006 they even furthered that. Well, I went to December camp and got the big ol' boot. I was devestated. I even thought for two months I wasn't even gonna march. Then March came along and I auditioned for a corps that was still good, but not top 12. I ended up not making that corps as well. WEll, I was made an alternate. I blame that on poor audition and not preparing myself, I almost audition soley for the fact I had a drum corps relationship, and didn't want it to fail. Anyways, I left that camp kinda happy ... it made me feel relieved I'd have a summer home. And then May came. I realized what I had done. I was sickeningly upset I gave up on marching. Luckily, due in part to DCP, I found a thread dealing with this said corps asking for audition tapes to fill holes in their baritone line. I JUMPED at the chance, talked to my parents and they gave the ok, and I sent my tape. I got the spot. So I technically didn't "audition" for this corps, but I did get in and they did score better than one of the corps I had previously auditioned for.
  2. Cadets 2006, at least the ballad, was taken from Edinburg High School. Thats even where they got the singer from.
  3. I only know of two members from IUP who ever marched Crown (myself and a bass drummer) and the rest of the IUPers went off to Glassmen, Bluecoats and Cavliers.
  4. I understand the contrast, but the overall makeup of the uniforms looks like practice clothes to me. To each his own.
  5. Blue Knights. I just don't get it, they look like their "in place" unis rather than the ones they are using for the summer. It looks like they just didn't care and got some sports bras and yoga pants from wal mart and painted dots on them.
  6. Youre doing my alma mater proud. I wish there was this much coverage when I marched in 06 so that my family could watch me at home! :)
  7. They do have a few clips here and there on FN from the AAP program .. though I have to agree, I wish that more would be added ... especially last nights runthrough, I mean ... just that one would have sufficed! :)
  8. Same ordeal happened with me in 07 at Crown. I had a previous injury from the year before, I guess it didnt heal enough and I didnt train enough, but it gave me a lot of problems within the first few days, so I went home. I didnt get any money back, but I didnt expect to. In reality, me leaving is making the corps do more work by finding an alternate (they didnt use the baritone alternates we already had, whicH i dont know why they didnt) and doing more work than needed. And I also singed a contract stating that I knew if I left for any reason I would not be refunded. In a way, it is smart, because then they could call in an alternate to march and not have to charge them as much, making the ability to find someone greater. I dunno, just my two cents.
  9. I went to their spring training rehearsal yesterday for ensemble ... and wow. Let me just say, they are definetly very very good this year. The opener to me is probably going to be my favorite moment of the year!
  10. From the year I marched Crown, about all of the (brass) staff to my knowledge had marched Carolina Crown and Star of Indiana ... with many of them being in the first tour of Blast!, and I believe one marched Blue Devils. With Capital Regiment, almost all the staff had marched Cadets if I remember correctly.
  11. I need to know how to make one of these ... it would be a summmer project!
  12. Yeah, I was upset too. I have no other means of corps this year except visiiting the Cadets in Johnstown this week.
  13. Coming from someone who did corps for two years, I found it weird. I walk to work everyday, and its a good 30 minute uphill walk. I come to work sweating. I seriously look back and cannot believe how I ever did corps, but at the time I was just in the zone and wouldnt have anything but I suppose...
  14. Yeah, normally if you leave a corps that late in the season, they keep your money ... in my experience it's kept so that an incoming alternate has to pay less/nothing at all to march, since getting that money on short notice is hard. It sucks, but if you walk out on your corps, what do you expect?
  15. Confusing post, my bad. I had a season ending injury and was taken out of the show after San Antonio, but I stayed wth the corps as an "alternate"/volunteer, brining the corps water and warm ups and such. I got to go on the field in uniform at finals, however. Which was really the most they could have given me.
  16. Crown 2006. Primarily because I watched it from the sidelines and wasn't able to finish marching it. :(
  17. I kind of wish corps posted pictures and things, thats the only thing i could ask for.
  18. Not stolen, but convienently lost. In 2005, I was riding standby on US Airways (my dad used to work for them so we got so many free tickets, but they were only valid if there were seats on the plane open) I figured, who is gonna want to fly back from Foxboro ... so I booked a standby. The only problem is you need an ID card or your birth certificate. I did't have time to get an ID card before tour and I never got my license because of corps (long story ...) WELL ... the tour director convienently lost my actual birth certificate, so my dad had to fly to foxboro to escort me through security. Yeah, he wasnt very happy about that. At least it was free. I recall in 2006 we were at a site in ... I can't remember where but it had major duststorms. I was inside because of an injury, and apparently during our lunch break (I had gone out to the truck to eat) Someone from the area stole ipods, blackberries, hair dryers and other assorted electronics. That was a big bummer. I tried cheering up some of my section by buying them gatorade by a laundromat (myself and a few other "alternates" washed the corps uniforms) ... it still didnt help much though. The only stuff I'd ever had stolen were razors, some gatorade on the bus, horn towels, and a pillow.
  19. absolutely love the One Man Show part ... it has to be one of my favorite pieces performed by a corps.
  20. rule number 9? apparently this is a percussion thing though ... but i rode the perc bus and didnt know it was only their thing, still funny though.
  21. I saw the show with my boyfriend and I knew what it was about because I've followed Crossmen (or knew their previous shows). I had to explain it to him, and my friends as well beause they were new to corps, but they all thought it was a really cool idea when they understood the concept.
  22. I dont know if its much of a surprise, but 2005-2006 Bluecoats? I remember Bloo being 6th in semis in 05 and then jumped to 5th Then 06 they were 6th? I believe in semis, and jumped to 4th.
