  1. Hi John, Im not remembering Dominic. What did he do? And "oobie " I remember very well. I remember thinking NO WAY. Eddie
  2. Thanks. I created it in IronCad. Your licence plate is my favorite. You live in Florida too. We live in Sarasota. Whole lot of 27 in the Sunshine State. Later Eddie
  3. I never wanted it to end. I was destroyed when I found out I could'nt march in 76. Destroyed again when I found out 27 was no longer going to compete. Age outs go on to other things. Careers, families which can be as wonderful as marching in drum corp. The empty feeling that you might feel, evolves in a wonderful memory of good times and good friends. Now you have to hope that Jr drum corp can survive so the youth of today can experience what it is like. My wife is from Drum Corp also so we still have many drum corp conversations. Places like this forum will certainly help future age outs to keep in touch with others who have marched before and those who are still marching. Eddie
  4. How do you like the avatar I made? My heart is in the cage. 27 forever
  5. Tom, thanks.. I will check out the pics in the "some old corp photos". What an amazing thread that is. I started at the begining and Im only 25% thru. Thanks again Eddie
  6. This guy "Jerry the poet". What was he? I remember him asking us to lay down, relax, picture yourself as the greatest drummer in the world, now picture yourself in the greatest drum corp in the world. ( that part was easy ) It was one of the most different things I ever did in drum corp. Did he provide his services to other corps? Could we have hired him to talk to Madison in 75 and tell them that they were the 2nd best drum corp in the world? Where is he now? I want him to tell me Im 21. Im going to blame him for me forgetting the Bayside. See... "the cage is good, Eddie", "the cage is good", " its safe in the cage."
  7. Great not to be known as "the other" Jimmy Hickey. Thanks, John!! (My dad and grandfather were both named Jimmy - I was James, III. I was known in my family as "little Jimmy" until I reached 200 pounds at age 30) Especially not "Richard" if you had to also carry that "little" with you too.
  8. Welcome back. Its nice to visit home and see friends and family. I cant wait for the reunion. I didnt get much work done today talking with John M and Jim H. A few more stories and pics in topic .. Historical.. Massachusetts Drum Corp question. Great pic from John. I had forgotten the tymps didnt have to carry during drum practice. A couple of questions. Do you recall any other corp with marching Chimes? And are there any 27 Lancers from 1975 who remember laying down on a grassy area so we could be hypnotized before the competition that evening ? Eddie
  9. Thanks John I ll try that. Some of the ones Ive seen are wild. Richard would not have been the best choice for the Jims. My friends call me "Special Ed" Nice EH?
  10. Where or how does one go about getting one of those little pictures under your screen name?
  11. Hi Jim I wish I could have been a part of that. I was in the stands and still remain emotionally drained by what I saw that evening. What a performance. My comment about the towels on the drums was just me joking with John. In one of the pictures he posted, a drum was wrapped with a black cloth because we were short 1 snare. In another picture every snare had a towel. Eddie
  12. Life without the cage forced me to add the weight to counter balance my leaning back. Fight that feeling of constantly marching downhill. Eddie
  13. Thanks Buddy, That picture says it all. Put on a few pounds myself, have most of my hair. but some gray is moving in.
  14. And again the towels on the drums are for GE ? Boy its great seeing these pics. Hey remember having to spit shine the shoes ? That was tough. Joan used to help me with mine and thats after she did her boots. A lot of work. Greatly appreciated. What a great kid. Eddie
  15. Nice, look at you guys with the tymps on the ground. John could you put that pic in the other post about the chime cage? If thats at finals, then the building in the back ground is where the Kilties stayed. I know I left brain cells with those guys. Thanks Eddie
  16. CMCC Warriors were a great corp. What brought them up? Anyway When I was 14 I told my mother that I was sleeping at a friends house and he told his mother the same. We took a bus from Providence to NYC to watch an Evening with the Corps. It was a popular standstill performance back in the day. CMCC Warriors, St Ritas Brassmen excellent. Then we went to the bus station and had to wait for our bus so we went to the gift shop. We each bought a large, very large cigar that had New York City printed on the side. As the bus cruised through Conneticut my freind and I lit them up. ( at the time smoking was permitted on public transportation ) I guess that they were not smokable but they were certainly flamable. We both had these torches in our hands and we couldnt put them out. So my friend and I each pushed the lever on the window next to us and the entire window fell off the bus. It was an escape feature. We didnt know. The bus pulled to the side of the road and we waited for another bus. The bus driver made us sit in the front and we couldnt move or talk. What a night. Eddie
  17. I thought it looked like from left to right. Vinny, Ned, Michael, Paul, and Ronny then 15% of Sharky. I see you in the back. Missing and I assume further to the left or still in the Bayside would have been Steve, Gary and Jack. I thought we had 8 identical snare drums. Help me with identification. The picture is alittle small and my eyes are worn. Eddie
  18. Vinnys drum must have just been polished. Its wrapped in a towel.
  19. Yes, Great Picture. Thanks again? All of my pics are gone from my days with 27. After my parents passed on, my sisters took all the boxes of pictures in the house. Each time I ask one of them about the corp pictures they claim that one of the others has those. The pictures are nice to see. I have contacted Moe Knox and he has a few that he sent me photocopies of. I am going to purchase them. Eddie
  20. "Kevin Egan introducing on of the locals to the fat side of a pool cue." Put a stick in a Lancer drummers hand and its just instinct. Practice Practice. Somethings going to get beat on . Usually a drum head tho. In some cases I guess you work with what you got. Do you remember any other corp with chimes? Eddie
