Last I checked, the current Spirit from JSU is still wearing the delta and claim they have been around since 1976. They are the original. They just have a different name, just like corps like the Cadets. Why don't you just be happy the corps still exists? I know they are not a finalist yet but they are "competing as a junior corps". Now, I realize that unlike Spirit, it really isn't the "original" but the spirit of the corps is the same.

THAT is a big pile of CRAP! I have NEVER started a discussion on The Academy! I have only responded and that's a FACT!

You are getting the idea. And why am I that way, you ask? Simple. Because Blue Stars, Madison, Crossmen, Crest, Cascades etc and their "fans" (hahaha) don't come to DCP DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY hyping themselves up...as well as protesting their 2007 DCI Championship placements. If the Academy honks would just "shh" for....ONE WEEK (and they can't seem to go even one day)...I might back off. But it just never stops. Frankly if anyone has room to complain, it's Blue Stars anyway...NOT The Academy. The Blue Stars actually toured ALL SUMMER and did most of it in direct competition with Spirit. And they put up quite a fight...beating them several times when Academy only went on half the tour and beat them only once. If anyone would be deserving, it would be Blue Stars. But the truth is, the top 12 was what it was supposed to be. Whether the honks want to admit it or not, the 12 best corps were the ones performing on Satruday night. We can protest it until the cows come home but it won't change anything anyway. So WHY NOT..."SHHH"? It's really a pretty reasonable request when you really think about it.

Oh of course. ...REALLY? Who are you kidding (besides yourself)? The Academy "honks" (as THEY call themselves) have not shut up since January. What's astonishing is that when the moment of truth finally came and the championship scores were finally announced, they got their mud handed to them. One would think they would pipe down. But no...instead...they took a licken and kept on ticken (no pun intended).

How can I respond constructively to something not constructive? I mean really...is that possible?

Uhhh. No. Not really. The only thing I see the honks bringing to the table is overdone hype (which has no merit since the corps clearly did not live up to it), arrogance, bitterness and griping (over the results of championship week) and relentless BS that has no end. I'd hardly call that constructive.

To give my answer now, I do think the top 12 were right and even in the right order. But if I had to choose another to make it in, I really liked the Blue Stars and feel they would have been just as good of a choice. I also liked Crossmen.

I don't believe it! I've seen it with my eyes and I still don't believe it. This thread has gone 3 pages long and as not yet become an opportunity for more overhype and sour grapes for the Academy honks. There really is a God and there is also hope for DCP.

Good point and you are probably right. But even if you are right, would it not be worth at least the 1-2 minutes of TV in the audition round? Even if the judges did say "that's stupid, go home"? Hey, 2 minutes of fame is 2 minutes of fame!

So I was watching the "So You Think You Can Dance" reality TV show and saw a comerical for a new one that the American Idol producers are putting out for bands called "The Next Great American Band". They showed some video clips of I guess the kind of stuff they are looking for and they seem to be looking for just about anythying. Rock, Polka, Jazz. So I'm sitting there wondering...would they accept an audition from a mini corps of some sort? Perhaps a Future Corps type group? If so, I wonder if it would be too late to put something together. If not, I just might be crazy enough to consider it. What do you think? Crazy? Ridicuous? Thoughts please.

Well, the Academy hype is just that overboard right now. No, just that it might happen in the next few years. regardless of the when, it's ridiculous and overboard. Oh dude, please. I've made my point. If only the Academy honks would listen. Of course not. They are quiet! Dude. There is a major difference between an occasional optomistic prediction and DAILY DAILY DAILY DROWNING in overhype that never ceases! LOOK AT THIS! IT STILL HASN'T STOPPED AND THE SEASON IS OVER! I thought for sure that after their 13th place finish, all the honks would have gone. "OOOOOOooooooo! Whoops! I guess we should slow down a little". No, instead they just keep it coming. I don't have an issue with the Blue Stars because their hype was normal. The Academy people have just plain gone overboard and can't seem to realize when enough is enough. Again, none of them went as overboard. And the "honks" comment is directed at exactly what they call themselves. It's not something I made up.

Exactly why I say "shhh". Let them do their gig. Exactly! Could not agree more. I am not against the corps...I am against the HONKS! THOUGH...I fear sometimes that the honks ARE the corps and it's affiliates. Of course, I can't prove that. But the evidence is sometimes overwhelming.

To those of you opposiong my "shhhhh" and advising me to just not click the links...thank you for the advice. If I think I need it, I'll use it. Now let me give the honks some advice...."SHHHH". That's right...."SHHHH". But don't "SHHHH" for me...."SHHHH" for you...AND The Academy themselves. I'm going to be very frank with the honks on this board. You guys have made complete fools of yourselves this year. Since January, we've been drowning in honk hype stating everything from "Academy is going to be in the top 12" to "they are going to be in the top 10, maybe the top 8 and maybe the top 5". Now we sit here in late August with the facts...those facts being that The Academy really wasn't that good and were out of finals by a solid point. SO!!!! If the honks want to make the same mistake and overhype the corps again...only to possibly eat more crow in 2008, knock yourselves out. At the end of the day, you are the ones who look foolish when the final results are in. I think for the sake OF....The Academy....the honks need to "SHHH"! And guess what, you are going to get it from me any time the honks get out of control with the overhype from now on. If you don't like it, oh well. I won't stop "shhhing" the honks until the get the clue that they are doing the Academy more harm than good.

Hey bud... I have a better idea. Try, for a change, NOT starting a new thread that says "Academy". I'm sure the 100+ we already have on the first 10 or so pages of this forum is enough. Sorry, just "not clicking" is not enough for me anymore. I'm tired of seeing their name on this forum at all. It was overkill long ago!

1. The hype, more hype and more hype that we are FORCED to have to swallow on this board DAILY that just NEVER seems to end from Academy supporters. 2. You said "top 5 within a few years". If you can't see that such a prediction is ridiculous...especially in light of the fact that it's getting harder and harder to make semifinals...let alone finals and let alone the top 8...then you are just plain delusional. It's NOT going to happen. NO WAY NO HOW! Now SHHHHH!!!! I am so over the ridiculous Academy hype that it really makes me just want to puke.

Oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm going to hurl!!! I just can't stand the ridiculous anymore!
