  1. There has to be a level of seriousness to a show in my opinion. But there should be a balance between it and entertainment, I never said it isnt totally about entertainment. I just wouldnt want to march a show and spend all summer on it plainly for entertainment. Entertainment is not a hard thing to put into a show and usually isnt hard to pull off. I guess it all depends what you think entertainment is. If I see a show that has no gimicks and is just incredible drill and great music, thats entertaining to me.
  2. I wouldn't want to march a show that was just for entertainment. I can do that in my college marching band.
  3. just wondering Did anyone else think the begining of the cadets 06 show was pretty awesome? Staying in time while the pit was playing something completley unrelated.....
  4. It was a couple of days ago when Sully himself said 2006 was one of his favorite years. The man is a creative genuis and for someone like that to get a reaction just like The Cadets did is what he wanted. The Cadets have aloud him to do stuff like that and that is why he came there in the first place. I'm pretty sure the staff knew what they were getting into and knew some people would hate it. But I do know one thing, the corps played that show to the best of their ability and worked their ***** off every day. I also don't think The Cadets plan to change thier idea of drum corps so the kids that audition there know what their getting into and obviously agree. 2007 might be a step back but sometimes thats a good thing. Please stop arguing and lets talk about 2007 :)
  5. Haha sorry I guess my memory isn't as good as yours :P
  6. I like when corps explore all dynamic ranges too but theres a way to do it and make it sounds good. When it becomes an intonation problem its going to far. I do think their are other corps that accomplish this. I'm also curious to what key Phantom plays in most of the time. When a hornline hits a chord I would imagine concert Bb being the loudest. I know Cadets ended their opener on concert D which is probably one of the worst chords to play intune thus making if more difficult to be "loud". Does anyone know more on this?
  7. Some people DON'T think they have the strongest visual program, but I guess that's because their drill doesn't look like The Cavaliers. They're extremely clean, the visual book requires more movement than most corps (if not all) and they still sound #### amazing while doing it. ~>conner The Cavaliers are always very clean, and if all corps had as many pit breaks and gimicky moves as they do I'm sure they would sound good also. I am in no way bashing the Cavies, what they do , they do well and they have a lot of talented musicians. However, I would not say that Phantom has more movement then all other corps and I wouldn't say that they sound good all the time either. TO ME it sometimes sounds like they overplay their horns.
  8. I think George just likes to think ahead. He knows it won't pass now but if he starts trying now, he'll probably get it sometime.
  9. In my musicianship class, the teacher makes the kids who have "perfect pitch" choose a key other then the one written when they have to sight sing a melody. It seems like they have trouble associating the pitches they see to the ones they have to sing and solfege, but they still do it better than I could ever do hahaha.
  10. All of this about a shirt......wow, that is all I have to say
  11. It does depend on what corps your child is auditioning for. Also how on many other auditions they are expecting and the talent of them. From experience I can say I didn't know until Feburuary, and even then I had to emiail my tech and ask him. I got a 2 at my first camp as well. My advice is to keep coming back and giving them your money because it is an experience that is well worth it. Good luck!
