  1. Brent Sounds like a great show and an amazing step forward for year two; I hope "Amber Waves" (the member) makes an appearance this season as well. ;) Much luck to you; and we shall see you on the road g
  2. Not sure what happened after i left; but in Gold's early days; Gold director (patrick), corpsvets director (jeff) and heatwaves director were the one that started DCA South; so gold strongly considered themselves a part; Simply because there was no other alternative; the shows up north were far away and expensive. But that may have changed after i left
  3. I guess I will put my two cents in. since i run the thing. Masquerade is BASED in Ruston, LA. We are affiliated with FPAA in Dallas, TX for non-profit reasons, and quite frankly cuz they are swell folks and they let us be. The non-Louisiana residents seem to think the state is ONLY Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Funny. I used to think that til i moved here. We have open house on November 25 at 1:30; So that is plenty of time for any LSU folks to get un-hungover from whatever game, and drive up for open house and be back. We had a small and exceptionally talented group last year. We plan to field a battery and field show this year. The numbers will dictate competitve status. So anyone in our neighborhood wanna jump on, look us up. g
  4. Congrats Glad to hear things are back up and running in the south. Your brother corps to the north wishes you well....
  5. Masquerade begins YEAR 2 with a meet and greet Date: Sunday, November 25, 2007 Time: 1:30 PM Where: Louisiana Tech University - Band Building This will be a time for you to meet members (and prospective members) of Masquerade Drum and Bugle Corps, and to find out information about the corps and DCA. Snacks will be provided. If you plan on attending, please register on the front page of the website: www.maskdrum.org There will be a $25 Open House fee. This fee will be applied to this season's dues.
  6. i was surprised that you guys did not have a booth or some folks at the movie theater in olathe during the quarter-finals broadcast was a nice crowd; i had to actually drive up to the casino in northern KC to watch quarters.... was hoping to meet some of you prairie sounders.... oh well, some other time
  7. I want to second that sentiment; Masquerade had a blast this weekend; thanks for having us, giving us a place to perform, for our gift as well. We really enjoyed the show; gary
  8. hardcorps I know what you are going thru If you want to start a new corps; do it. there will always be pros and cons; always be folks that tell you what you can and cant do. only you know. HOWEVER; if you are just interested in the activity and feel the only way you can get involved is to start one; There is one that is off the ground (so to speak) thanks to frontier, that is NOT very far from central arkansas give Masquerade Drum and Bugle corps a look then maybe with your folks and our folks we can get those numbers up and shut some of these so called "drum corps" fans up gary
  9. I, too, did not want to say anything to defend out sister corps until Chris had put the official word out there... Frontier you have an amazing corps, an amazing product, and amazing people.... hang in there; thank you for all you have done and given to US; probably to your own detriment; we stand with you; gary

  11. Thanks Brent; It was great to see you guys (and everyone else) too... We got some classic lines on the judges tapes as well....made for a fun ride home. What a nice time we live in, as a drum corps in the south. Lots of new corps springing up all over the place...
  12. Part of the issue with Frontier today was the lack of Pit (where consistent attendance has been a problem, I believe).... the parts would have enhanced that solo (IMO) I totally agree with all the first. I am floored by the amount of positive input we received from the judging panel as well. So appreciative for that, and for the opportunity to give our first public performance relatively near home. I would echo that Austin Stars had a nice run. Masquerade had an atypical run; we were missing a few, and had some nerves.... Thanks for all the kind words, see you all in Houston...
  13. I would not be much of a director if I did not vote for my own group; and our other family member Crosswinds, would I? And no matter what we look/sound like this; We will have more than one person very excited that there is a New Drum Corps to participate with in Northern Louisiana; and that is good enough for those people (whether we are "watchable" or not) note: chris sorry it took me so long to get here; Basketball band is FINALLY over...
  14. Masquerade Drum and Bugle Corps of Northern Louisiana just completed rehearsal number 3. We have a small but determined nucleus of folks and are very excited for the prospects for year one. We are planning to host our own show, and attend the other 2 of the Bermuda Triangle of the South Drum Corps shows: Dallas and Houston. If you are near and have not a home for the 07 season; We would love to have you. We have openings in all areas; but especially Mellophone. If you are interested, please contact me at director@maskdrum.org Thanks for all the interest, hope to see you all on the road this summer gary
