  1. I'm trying to build a WGI on demand DVD and wanted to add the Northern Lights Road to Perdition show. Wasn't that in 2004? Shouldn't it be listed under independant world? Am I looking in the wrong place because I can't find it? Thanks!
  2. I'm bummed that you're not coming to Indy this year. I went last year, and it was a lot of fun.
  3. I have been trying out some different weights for my flags. I feel that they are too heavy now. I was looking back at some past posts that discussed the different sizes of carriage bolts that are used but I'm wondering what the diameter of the bolts should be. Should they be as wide across as the pole? The bolts that big didn't have a length any smaller than 3 inches at Lowes. If they are smaller, do you use washers to keep the bolts in the pole, or how do you keep them from going down the pole? I've always used a washer with the bolt through it, but I've never used the carriage bolts (I had a different kind) and it seems like the washer doesn't go all the way to the top of the bolt with these. I'm just wondering how others go about this. Thanks.
  4. I agree that she handled it very well and didn't let it ruin her show. I also thought Interplay's show was a fun one to watch. They did a great job. So, does anyone else use wooden poles? I've never tried them. I've always used aluminum or fiberglass which I don't like as much. Anyone recommend the wooden poles? How do you weight them?
  5. Does anyone know what happened with the flag that broke in half? I think it was an open guard. Interplay maybe? I can't remember for sure who it was, but I saw something fly in from the right, and I thought someone was thowing in a sabre or something. Then I look over and a girl is spinning half a flag, and it was the bottom of her pole that was flying through the air! I've never seen a flag break in half like that. Does anyone know what it was made of? It was a day filled with crazy events. And then of course, poor Seminole with the balloon floating down. I think the performers handled that very well. They didn't even look surprised to see it there. Kudos to them.
  6. Speaking of seating, does anyone know if the seats are numbered from the center out or from right to left/left to right regardless? (So if I am sitting in a section to the audience's right in seat 1, would it be toward the center or towards the side?) I'm thinking they are all numbered from right to left, but this time of year rolls around and I can never remember for sure! Thanks!
  7. I'm wondering what everyones thoughts are as far as if you prefer to go barefoot during the winter season or have some kind of sandal. I've always put my guard in a lyrical sandal. I'm considering having them just go barefoot this year. I'm also debating trying a different style of modern shoe like dance paws. Has anyone tried these? Does anyone want to give a review on these or your opinion if barefoot is better/prefered/ more or less common? I'd also like to know if anyone has used the Leos' "illusion" modern shoe because I'm considering ordering it myself for my modern dance class outside of guard as well. Thanks!
  8. You can download Audacity for free online. I think it's pretty easy to use and I've been happy with it, especially for free. I think you may be able to buy a more detailed version. I'm pretty sure that's what my brother uses whose job deals a lot with multi-media. I've never used movie lines, but recorded my own voices this year and then edited that in using Audacity. Good luck!
  9. Nevermind. I just saw on WGI's website that they are posting videos on that one website that plays videos, including the ones I was looking for. If you haven't checked them out, you should!
  10. Thanks for passing that info along. I was watching some of it, and yes, there is some great choreography. I was checking out the Australian SYTYCD a while back too. A friend of mine who recently went to Australia was telling me about it. Does anyone know if any other countries are doing a show?
  11. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the videos are available anywhere from the performances from the last Spinfest. I'm talking about the small group routines that a few guards did on the stage for Mia Michaels. Those were some awesome performances. For a while they were on WGI's website, but I don't think they are anymore. I saw the promo for the coming Spinfest, and it made me want to see them again. If anyone knows of any links, I'd love to know. Thanks!
  12. I'm glad you cleared that up. I was wondering too if that was the year Franklin Central did their Shostakovich show. I remember loving that show. I don't have it on video either, and was trying to backtrack in my mind. They had that stage-like thing set up on the back of the floor. Great show!
  13. Here's a link to a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OOfzkBFKp4
  14. I have a couple of rifles that have paint chipping off of them so the wood is showing, and they don't look nice anymore. Has anyone tried painting a rifle to make it look nicer? If so, what kind of paint do you use and do you paint the entire rifle or just where it is chipping? (Would you take off all the tape, or just paint where there is not tape?) Would this add a lot to the weight? Thanks!
