  1. I'm not sad about it... It was a couple of years ago.. But it happens to many young and inspired students who want to be apart of these corps; And trust me I know when I'm better then the person next to me... I have a friend who marched with Bluecoats mello line in 06 and 07, and he believes it's a vet issue. I guess you get extra extra credit for marching the year before. After 2 years with the Bluecoats and 1 year marching at Texas A&M Kingsville, I think he knows that I could have been a better choice as a member. But whatever... I guess I would have been angry as well if a new person that didn't share the same experiences I did with the corps the year before made the corps and I didn't. I'm also sure that the brass staff has too much of relationship with their vets that it's extremely hard to say no to them.
  2. Oh and another crazy thing was this guy that I met who was also auditioning for the mello line had been cut before I did, and he went on and made the mellophone line for the Blue Devils.
  3. Well Bluecoats had the rest of the mellophone vets at the Ohio camp. I was told that none of them were aging out that year. Not until the next year.
  4. I understand that. But I was physically fit, had great ambitions, drum corps experience, and was mentally ready for another summer on tour. It just sucks that lots of people have to wait for an age out to leave to have an open spot ready.
  5. I just wanted to know how DCP felt about the choice of corps members. I know some make think that the best of the best will make the corps, but I believe that corps are bias when it comes to choosing a veteran over a rookie. I learned from experience when I auditioned for the Bluecoats in 2005. I was a former drum major, had corps experience, have won many awards, including going to state on french horn in texas. I marched in a university marching band on mello and have played mello for years. I always thought and heard from many corps members and directors that I had the ability to make any corps if I tried. Well in 2005 I was put against 6 vets in chance to make the mellophone line. I was called back for three camps, all camps up until the January camp when I was cut with a score of 68 (you had to make 70 to make the corps). The thing that upset me greatly was the fact that there were some 04 bluecoats mellophone vets from Texas also, that were no way near as good of a player, hard as a worker during camps, and marcher as I and many other rookie mellophone players had noticed. I also noticed that 4 of the vets went to the University of Houston, where the mello tech taught brass. The bluecoats only took the 6 mello vets that year... Maybe I am over reacting, but I just wanted to know if the same thing has happened to others??? Thanks for your time.

  7. As in make it easier to play, or use water???? hahahaha... jk.
  8. yes!!!!!!! 2008 is going to be the shiz....
  9. This is a great example of why drum corps needs The Cadets. They always have such a hard show, and execute almost perfectly everytime.
  10. Seriously!!!! He's making the activity more and more expensive, causing the price to see a show, and tour fees more expensive for us... UNTIL IT'S A RICH MAN'S SPORT.... AHHHHHHHHHHH!
  11. No, but he is ruining the activity... Hopefully whoever makes the decision comes to their senses and and votes no for most of his proposals... What's going to be next years proposal??? and the year after that??? Next thing you know drum corps is like a broadway show, with music on the side... Well maybe I'm going to far... haha
  12. They should allow members or even fans to submit proposals...
  13. Oh well #### I just got the email now... Closed... And please don't be a little DCP drama queen... It would be a different story if we were face to face...
  14. http://www.dci.org/rules/index.cfm Check out the new rule proposals that George Hopkins now wants??? Is he changing or activity for the worst? Who will win the battle... Blue Stars... Or George???
  15. Maybe the DVD shoulb be just of all the 2008 corps filmed and edited at their best, instead of calling it 2007 DCI Finals or DCI Championship DVD's, because that would be a lie.
  16. What makes you think that they don't have the work ethic to make it into finals? I don't put who I think they are going to replace them, because there is nobody to replace. Whan makes you think that the same corps from 2007 are automatically in finals. It's anybodys game from the start of the season. How does Madison have to jump 3 points to get into the 12th place spot when finals is in another 7 months?????
  17. Oh I see... How do you know that the broadcast was not from Semi Finals? If it is edited and fixed, then that is a pretty un-ethical. Coming from a film and photography school, ethics is huge. What we show, and tell the public should be real. What if one of the top 3 corps members missed a huge note that they replaced on the dvd with the semi-finals recording. That's not good.
  18. Dude it was a small camera op problem. Nobody wants to see a moving, shacking, shot.
  19. I believe that the biggest surprise in 2008 will be the very thin leads between all the top 6 corps, i would say all within 1 point. Could be wrong, but we thought 2007 was a going to be competiive, which it was, but I think 2008 will be twice as competitive, with all the top 12 corps competing very closely. The corps that I believe will have the biggest change would be SCV. SCV will come back, and come back with a punch! They got the drill, now it's time to have a top notch musical program. I think Carolina Crown will be the next biggest change. Having a bazzzzzilllion fans now after a few amazing seasons, they will have better outcome during auditions to add an amazing 2008 program. I also think Madison will be back to finals, along with Crossmen.
  20. Take a second to write down why you are a drum corps fan... Why and how drum corps has changed your life... Past, present, and the future... Tell us some of your experiences that make drum corps what it is now... I can say that as an alumni, and forever fan that drum corps is the hardest and best thing that has ever happened to me. I can easily remember what it was like to finally be apart of something great. How everything outside of our corps, besides family didn't matter to me at that moment. A new family was created that will never break up. The feeling of a cold gym floor, and slightly compfortable bus seat never leaves my memory. The best feelings in the bus and in the gym were when you were cuddled next to someone you really cared for you didn't even know a few months prior. The sweet taste of drum corps food never leaves my taste buds. The smell of drum corps skin never leaves your senses. You laugh, shower, cry, smell, grow, sleep, eat, change, and compete together. I still remember tears falling after our final performance, and tears falling when we said goodbye. Not only am I proud to have marched, I am proud to be a fan of all of you... Thanks for giving me and all of eachother the greatest performances of our lives.
  21. They work smarter, and harder. Now days with the harder shows that we march gives us a higher risk of health problems. We are smarter in the fact that we try to spend at least time on the field as possible. Now I'm not saying that we only march very short time on the field, I'm saying we use new methods to get our marching part of practice done in a faster more productive way. Some examples would be NO TALKING UNLESS YOU'RE A LEADER, KEEP YOUR HORNS SET UNLESS TOLD NOT TO, RUN TO THE BATHROOM WHEN YOU NEED A BATHROOM BREAK AND RUN BACK, WATER BREAK IS TIMED, AND WORKING THE HORNLINE, GUARD, AND PIT INDIVIDUALLY, ETC. We also are working harder to keep these rules going, and successfully complete our goals for the day. With global warning we even work harder in the heat... AHHHHH! LOL...
  22. wow! interesting fact i did not realize...
