  1. OK GET WITH IT OLD DRUM CORPS PEOPLE. THE BEST DRUM CORPS WAS NOT FROM THE 70'S. WAS IT LOUD? YES. WAS IT OUT OF TUNE AND CRASP WITH A BUNCH OF GUYS THAT WERE PLAYING STRAIGHT BUGLES THAT SOUNDED LIKE TIN? HELL YES. IF IT WERE STILL LIKE THAT WE WOULD BE MAKING BOA AND GOD FORBID COLLEGE MARCHING BANDS LOOK LIKE THE PROS OF MARCHING AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON DRILL FROM BACK THEN EITHER. LETS ALL LINE UP IN ALINE AND MARCH ACROSS THE FIELD AND MARK TIME MARCH FOR ABOUT 12 MINUTES. DON'T FORGET PLAY AS LOUD AS YOU CAN WITH NO SENSE OF TONE QUALITY EITHER AND HARDLY ANY TALENT. OH AND THE DRUMLINES WERE PATHEDIC. THE BEST DRUM CORPS BOTH DESIGN QUALITY OF SOUND AND SHOWS WAS BETWEEN 1987 AND 2001 BUT TO BE HONENST MORE SO TO THE LATE 90'S LIKE 99. ALL YOU DRUM CORPS OLD PEOPLE HATED STAR OF INDIANA, BUT THEY WERE THE ONE'S IN THE LATE 80'S THAT MADE DRUM CORPS SOUND AND LOOK PROFESSIONAL. I DON'T LIKE THE VOICE STUFF AND I'M AN ALUMNI OF CADET, BUT KNOWONE LIKED THE STAR SHOW FROM 1993 WHEN IT CAME OUT BUT NOW YOU TALK TO PEOPLE THAT MARCHED ANY CORPS BACK IN THAT TIME AND THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT IS ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMED AND CLEANEST AND COOLEST INOVATIVE SHOWS THEY HAVE EVER SEEN. ENOUGH SAID.
  2. You know Andy Poor is about as fair as a judge as it gets right along with Jeff Mitchell and when it comes to judging brass. Those two guys are the only one's not afraid to put the precious Blue Devil hornline that does not ever move around fast when playing hard licks the deserving score they deserve. I"M a huge Cadet horn fan and I do question how Cadets were placed like 5th in brass, but who knows they could have been overplaying to get GE points and sounded like saws on the field, but I think Andy Poor, Jeff Mitchell and Marck Petrash who I almost forgot are the three fairest and best Brass ears in DCI judging. I agree that knowone should be slotted. The numbers on the judges sheet are based on different types of attributes that the Corps displays and if the Blue Coates were high box 5 then they deserved a pair of 9.9s and its not to say that he could not have given someone a Ten or even another pair of 9,9's if they were as good. I'm not even a Blue Coat fan but I know Andy Poor calls it like it is. Steve Kalhoun is the only judge that is about as unfair as it gets and his head is Up BD"S Butt so far he will never or rarely let a corps beat blue devils and always waits to hear them to give a number. HOly name shall never FORGET 2001 KALHOUN...................... THE NIGHT YOU STOLE THE JIM OTT TROPHY FROM ONE OF THE BEST HORNLINES CADETS EVER HAD.
  3. If it were over 50 million I would take care of everything for myself obviously. I would help drum corps like the Troopers, Crossmen, Magic of Orlando, Sad to say it I would give Glassmen money but only if Brian Hickman was not the director because as much as I respect him as a person and leader he has turned my old and first drum corps into a bottom 4 finalist corps forever and hires clueless staff to teach with some with no marching experience. Make sure all these corps had enough money for a good quality staff because that is where it all starts and a base to build on and be competitive. I know everyone will hate me, but Cadets are the poorest best drum corps out there. They hardly have enough money to operate every year, however there always in the discussion for winning a championship and have won more chapionships in the last 25 years than any other durm corps. Cavaliers, Blue Devils, SCV have way more money than Cadets. I would build an indoor field house so Cadets can start learning drill early. I would also Lock Gino Cirpiani as Brass Caption head for the rest of his able teaching life along with Jay Bocook as brass aranger, Jeff Sacktig as drill desighner and get Marc Sylvester to give up being an Artist and come and command visual from the tower every day all summer like he did back in 1998 yeah remember how clean they were that year. If that did not work I would just steal Todd Ryan from Blue Devils. I would also find a way to pay kids or give scholorships to kids from top music school like Juliard and such and pay them to march for the summer if they were rediculous good. Staff then Talent is how a drum corps becomes great. Put the corps back in New Jersey and rename them The Cadets Of Bergen County. Inoor Feild house to practice in Winter and Bad weather. Out door stadium with really high stands with that fake grass they have. Brand new busses New Trucks. Dorm rooms for spring training. I would pay George well over 6 figures which he deserves and good salaries for other MGT team like Meg Healy. I think that about covers it. They would win every year.
  4. Why do drum corps Fans Hate Cadets? Its funny because I did until I marched there. I was at Glassmen for 3 seasons 98,99,00 and I hated Cadets and wanted to go to Blue Devils to age out, but I could not move all the way out there in January, Cavaliers were full, SCV was full and I did not want to go back to Glassmen so I tried out for one Baritone spot at Cadets in March with 4 other people gunning for it and got it. Up until that moment I hated them, but I don't even remember why now because after marching there I realized that this is the drum corps where you really figure the activity out and I wished I could have marched all four years there. I love the Cadets and when your up close in the organization you realize the class and respect towards the activity. So WHY DOES EVERY ONE HATE THEM I'M JUST CURIOUS?
  5. If you think the penalty should have been assessed. Fine that is your opinion, but Dan Achesson the director of DCI felt otherwise and trust me he is not a cadets fan any more than all you other holy name haters. If you think it should have been assesed its your opinion, however if you just hate Cadets or their show or both and that is why you want it assessed that is why you don't work for DCI .
  6. B) Here is the deal. I marched Glassmen 98,99,00 and I never remember people looking after the field before our show staff included. I remember marching a show in St. Lous where there were holes everywhere and no lines. When I marched Cadets in 01 George and staff made sure we always had lines and a good field. The Cadets drill is way too hard not to have both and George did what he would have done any other show or year it just happened at a bad time when they were on the field. Any other time would have happened an hour before. Cadets did get penalized anyway. DID YOU SEE THE BRASS SCORE? YEAH 5TH PLACE IN BRASS WHEN A WEEK AGO THEY BEAT BLUE DEVILS BY .5 AND CAROLINA CROWN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IS JUST AS MUSICAL AS CADETS HORNLINE. I DON'T THINK SO.... THAT WAS THERE PENALTY GUYS. A JUDGE THAT WAS OUT TO LUNCH WITH CADETS.
  7. ITs funny how all you huge BD fans with your big Blue Devil Crap all over your posts are missing where you marched on your profiles. maybe cause waite you did'nt ever so you don't know what it is like to be part of a real drum corps that works hard everyday and does not look like they just got back from a hippie/ skateboard convention and smokes in the uniform and drags it around like it is a rugby shirt and does not learn any values. Oh hold on I forgot you never marched anywhere so you don't know about all the stuff you learn when you march a corps like The Cadets, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vangaurd and most other corps that compete with BD every year. Your probably some marching band guy that wishes he could have marched but could'nt cause you were not good enough or to scared to get cut.
  8. I get so sick of the band wagon and want to be drum corps people who never marched who think the blue devils are the standard of drum corps knowmatter how many times the cavies or cadets beat them. I attribute that to dci because they market them more than any other corps and anyone who knows anything or marched along side them knows the bluedevils have easy drill and easy music. The show is the same every year mf for most of the show a couple of loud hits and a trumpet feature and they hardly take a step size over 8 to 5 and make 6 to 5 look like jazz running. The Cavies and Cadets are inovative and march the hell out the shows they do and play way tougher music spread all over the field with tempo changes and very tough timing elements. The Blue devils usually when playing something hard stay right between the 30's. boooring. The last great blue devil show that I have seen was 1996 and even then they did much of the same but at least they played their ##### off. The reason for me saying so much is I am convinced that Steve Calhoun judge for brass in DCI is completely in love with BD especially when they go against Cadets. Every time that guy judges Cadets and BD he always puts BD's hornline on top and lets not forget what happened in 2001 when he decided to roast cadets finals night in brass just to make sure BD would win the average of the three nights. That guy is deff getting music writing gigs or marching band jobs in the fall from some BD alum or staff cause its like clockwork every year.
