  1. Did Cadets just spell out an "XY" chromosome on the field? And just when I thought I couldn't throw up any more...🤢
  2. Mine has been 100% all night. Perfect picture, no pixilating, no freezing. The sound is dialed in, too.
  3. My Windows PC is clear as 720p gets. Sound is exceptional tonight articulate in the mid range. Sub bass is strong too. System is Onkyo 717 as pre-pro, Emotiva XPA-5 250 wpc in 3.2. Klipsch CF-4 speakers (dual 12" woofers), Usher MTM center and dual 15" subs 700 wpc.
  4. I thought the triangle tarp was visually effective. Credit where credit is due.
  5. (Open minded question) I'll concede your point, Mike, and I'd like to ask a follow-up question. I'm not giving you a "gotcha question" but it's a logical extension of what you are saying. Without getting into all the minutia of judge training, inter-rater reliability etc, why has this (I assume unfair or biased) judge been allowed to continue judging at the championship level? My context is NFL, NBA and MLB officials are constantly evaluated by whatever system is in place. Bad ones are replaced and only the best are allowed to go on to officiate at the next level such as playoff games, and only the very top flight guys are allowed to go on to the Superbowl game, etc. Why hasn't this biased DCI judge been weeded out if he's so bad?
  6. That may be true but it's not well known to me. I would certainly concede that I don't follow judges or their history of scoring drum corps. If you do, I would concede to your more extensive knowledge but it still doesn't mean I agree with it. I've never been big on "appeals to authority" as I prefer to listen with an open mind to all sides then make up my own mind. I have been watching drum corps live since 1979. I don't know if I meet your criteria of "watching the activity closely enough." I don't know everything. The concern I have is how to we know this judge is scoring a certain corps too high? How do we know the other judges aren't scoring them too low? I'm speaking rhetorically, the question isn't meant to be answered. Let me put the same argument out from a corps member's point of view: Let's say someone marches BD and they win. I think it is 100% wrong to say "you didn't win that championship, a judge unfairly gave you the title." What must that marching member think? That his victory is cheap or undeserved? I will maintain that member earned his title on the field of battle and I will accept no amount of excuse making from others who try to cheapen his accomplishments.
  7. Quote the passage that says that. I'll save you some time, it isn't there. You can't take what I said, then add your interpretation of what I said, then put words in my mouth. You may certainly quote my words but don't add anything to it. I am more than capable of speaking for myself. I think it's disrespectful to the corps members to tell them that after all their work and practice that their effort doesn't matter, it's all about the judges. You win with the judging system in place, or you lose. You don't blame others for your losses. Whichever corps wins this year, it will be because they earned it on the field.
  8. It all depends on how good the show is and how the corps performs that night.
  9. My Flo might have had a few very minor glitches but nothing like you're describing. The problem could not have been on Flo's side. To be clear: Not blaming you or your gear either. That transmission has to go a long way on probably some very bad wires before it gets to your house.
  10. Congrats on going 0 for 3. 😛 I went for years when I first started watching drum corps and couldn't get the top in the correct order. 🤣
  11. Bloo..coats! Funnest show of the year! Man that thing just cooks from the first note to the last! There's your winner.
  12. Blue Devils, that hornline sound when they hit those sustained chords...WOW!!!
  13. In their defense it's MUCH better for Blue Stars than for the corps who performed earlier. The pit was not over amped and the horns and drums came through.
  14. The horns and drums are showing good discipline. Of course the guard feels free to move around. 🤣
  15. Nobody blew a mic. The sound is heavily compressed on my Flo feed. I strongly suspect the problem is not with the corps.
  16. The sound recording is way out of balance. The running water is at least as loud as when the entire horn line is playing FFF.
  17. How late will DCI let this go on before calling it? Is there a cut-off time?
  18. True, but... I'm wondering if the sound feed is highly compressed tonight. I have a highly resolving speaker system and I think the sound from previous broadcasts were more dynamic. In particular Night Beats was really good.
  19. There are some really pretty musical moments in Troop's show.
