  1. Not really. I thought the gap between Cavies and all the number 2's was a little wide, but like I said, Cavies really have no weaknesses, and all the other corps have relative weaknesses. I liked Troopers in 12th. They have such a great horn sound this year.
  2. Cavies 1.5 pointed both Crown and BD? That's why I'm not a judge. I liked 'em all, but I loved Crown and Phantom. Music is the main reason why.
  3. What??? Lack of execution? Dear lord, what show were you watching?
  4. Man, watching Blue Devils perform is like watching Travis Pastrana do a double backflip on a motocross bike. He makes it look so easy, you'd think anybody could do it. But only he can do it. Blue Devils have such complete mastery over tempo changes, stylistic changes, volume control, attacks and releases it is incredible. Nobody can do what Blue Devils do, the way they do it. It wouldn't surprise me if they won tonight.
  5. Bluecoats, that opening salvo in that power triangle formation was played about as in-tune as a horn line can possibly get. Fantastic, what a sound!
  6. If you have FN, you can rewind it, just like TIVO. You have the entire 7 hours of show start to finish.
  7. Cavies: Biggest hand from the crowd so far. They win the way the Blue Devils usually win, with great individual execution and devastating precision. They just don't have any weaknesses. They are not my personal favorite, but I acknowledge the precision of the show. They will be hard to beat.
  8. Phantom Regiment; magnificent. They are the reason why I go to drum corps shows.
  9. OK Crown, your ending got me! GREAT show. CHAMPIONSHIP show. There are several tonight.
  10. Cadets. That was the most perfectly well designed and integrated show I've ever seen. Period. Wow.
  11. I'm with you. Now I'm frustrated because I can't hear the conclusion to TWO great songs! But at least we can criticize them for doing it as good as the original Cadets arrangement, and not as good the Phantom Regiment arrangement.
  12. I really appreciate the straight ahead drum corps style of the Vanguard. No leg shaking or contorting while playing, just great drum corps.
  13. I agree with this. I can only take so much scatter drill before it gets REALLY boring. But were they as loud LIVE, as they seemed on the FN? That ending in particular sounded strong.
  14. I remember seeing the 27th Lancers live. BK, you are no 27th Lancers. Especially in the opener, it looked like someone wrote a nice arrangement, and someone else wrote a nice drill, but they never met.
  15. Gorgeous sound by Troopers. Are they a little smallish in numbers?
  16. C'mon Granny, Cascades are up live on FN! It's not a real drum corps show unless you're there! Crossmen are about to go on. There are some GREAT corps coming up. I'm waiting for Phantom Regiment. I bet their opener will make you cry. I bet the closer of Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral will make you stand up from your rocking chair and applaud. +++ Wow wow wow,Crossmen! They had some great screamers! The whole show was smooth jazz, and the drill was smooth. That looks top 12 to me. +++ Another WOW to Spirit! They have really picked it up a notch and have found some world class power. I like this much better than the first time I saw it,
  17. For EVERY drum corps fan this should be required viewing. Do yourself a favor and watch it right now. You'll be glad you did.
  18. Good call. BD's 95 encore (Columbus, OH) may have been the loudest thing I've ever heard. My resume with my butt in the stands goes back to 1979, and I heard all those corps live from that era, regular season, not finals. FYI I heard Spirit 80 live and the Bridgemen, back-to-back. When Bridgemen hit the beginning of the closer "I wish I was in Dixie", that was louder than Spirit. But I was only about 5 rows up, but I could hear 'em both from there. And yes, Bridgemen were overblowing BIGTIME with those sops, but still, it was loud.
  19. Granny, don't think me disrespectful to old, senile people who can't remember anything more recent than The Great War, but...HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MARBLES???? This is DRUM CORPS. It's your passion, it's what you live for. What else do you have to do tonight, go to the movie theater and watch Harry Potter? Again? OF COURSE it's worth the 25 bucks. You spend that much on Geritol in one week. These people who are poo-pooing the sound quality and video are bitter, but they need to upgrade from plugging their Apple II-e's into their televisions. I watch in 1080p and the quality of the picture goes WAY up when you have a good monitor. Then get a 1,000 watt system and a set of Bose speakers like I have. Sound quality problem solved. I know I'm being a bit sardonic here, but I have watched FN on several different computers, and it really does make a difference to have a hi-res screen and decent sound system, or headphones. Look, do what everyone else does; go down to Walmart this afternoon, buy a laptop and a big screen on credit, watch DCI Minnesota, then return all that junk Monday morning. The Senior Bus runs right by the place ten times a day, they'll pick you up and drop you off right by the front door, no problem. Granny, I'm expecting you do log into DCP tonight and give us your running commentary on the night's performances. That is, IF you can remember where to find your spectacles, hearing aid, and DCP password.
