  1. Yea I disagree. I know I'm biased but I would argue Lee Beddis is the only musical battery writer. In the past years you can listen to just the battery parts and usually be able to hear the melody of the music within. This past year was different though, I think trying to show off a more difficult book....
  2. I don't understand how SCV's version is considered more true to the original if it was a simplified version of Appalachian Spring. Garfield's had all of the original parts from Appalachian Spring (yes with some extras). A good example is in SCV 09 the pit plays the runs, in Garfield's show, the brass plays the runs on the move... It seems obvious.
  3. Over a series of payments. It's so as people make money they can pay. Also when someone gets cut it makes it easier to refund them their money. Another thing is the alternates pay half tuition.
  4. I will be paying $1700 this summer. I think that is pretty good considering the luxuries we have.
  5. Yea I know... but one of the big reasons people end up not marching is because of tuition. If they lower the cost wouldn't more people march/audition and in turn make more money?
  6. It is hard to compare the new Bflat horns to the G bugles. So... G Bugles: 97 Cadets (Which my high school band played, check it out it's amazing) Star 90-93 - Jim Prime is simply amazing and crazy Bflat: Crown 08 BY FAR. The musicality, the pure difficulty of runs and ranges and sustains. Amazing
  7. Sop - Larry Shane - BD 90 Mello - Ben Harloff - Star 93 Bari - Cadets 05 Contra - Crown 08 section
  8. I think nowadays I would almost rather hear a corps play one of these songs that have been "played too much" because now you can't recognize anything they play anymore. Even if it is a familiar piece, by the time the arranger is done with it you can't recognize it anymore...
  9. That would be Albert Lo I believe, the man that put Crown's brass in 7th on finals night that year
