Guardians Drum Bugle Corp? Wow...
Quad-Spider replied to griego4m's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
I don't know how you could even say that I didn't do things correctly or I won't do them correctly..... 501 3 c Obtained Board of Directors Obtained Staff Obtained Instruments Obtained Sponsors Obtained http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/2010/03/2010-drums-on-the-chippewa/ My linkhttp://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/?s=Chippewa+Valley+Drum+corps&x=0&y=0 ......... I understand that a drum corps is a business. It's a very tough one for anybody to run. Our problem was not being able to get enough members out of the Eau Claire, Wisconsin area and not enough local support from area high schools. I'd really love for advice from anybody. -

after 3 years of trying,Including one year of working with a corps that Dcp ripped us a new one for until they ran the kid into hiding for a while,i've worked the next 2 years with a lot of good people to form a corps. i did a ton of research, and focused all of my efforts on recruiting members and staff after i've worked out equipment, a budget, sponsors, rehearsal sites, etc. And also,as previously stated, There's nothing wrong with founding a corps and putting someone else in charge of it. That's what I, simply because last year was my age out, which i marched. But even with gaining the horns, drums, trailer, a few sponsors, including innovative percussion, a staff and a few members... the corps was just impossible to maintain in wisconsin. We did everything correctly, we we're really lucky because we took over a drum corps organization that used to be around in the 70's and 80's who actually went to DCI events and dcm events, Eau Claire girls and sundowners, we had the 501 3c, we had a board of directors, the corps actually even hosted DCI open class shows. Even with all of that said, the Chippewa valley crusaders folded. Starting a drum corps is a really hard task and i've spent 3 Years ofmy life starting one. I'll probably try again in the. next 2 years. that being said, it's not impossible for a young person to start a corps, he just has to realize how hard this endeavor actually is, and be prepared for failure and hard times to come ahead, but don't give up your dreams, maybe he'll be the lucky one -
Where are you staying in Indy?
Quad-Spider replied to DCImonkey's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
If anybody has room for 2 college freshman that would be sweet. our other 4 friends backed out and so we cant afford to pay for an hotel for 3 nights on our own. we really want to go to DCI finals. we can split the cost as long as it is reasonable. -
Does this pass the sniff test?

There is no Indoor group, no color guard, no drum corps this year. there is Nothing from Eclipse in 2010 -

I understand I did not know what I was getting into at first, but in these few short I have learned a lot. I did not learn it on my own. I asked questions from others who have been doing corps. And I am not the one who started the corps or had anything to do with the planning. I was called and asked to be the composer/ arrange r -

I am LeKenneth Miller, I am the composer. I am glad that this issue came up on DCP these were things I have been wondering since november. I just wanted to state that as far as I know nobody on said "staff" list knew what was going on. The claims of corporate sponsorships and money from the lilly foundation is news to me. From december - january I was active in making phone calls to the DCI office about obtaining music a license for the 2010 season- so DCI does know about Eclipse. Anything after january I do not know what was going on, on the administration end. I am truly sorry about the whole april fools joke thing. This was not a joke. You may call us stupid kids. But we have a dream and we went after it. Just simple as that. One of my lifes goals is to be a arranger for a drum corps, so when the opportunity came I took it.I don't see this as a blackeye on my resume, I see it as extra practice. I have a complete drum corps show and another one started from this. I hope Nagy reads this. I am angry because I feel like he hid a lot from the staff members and I am angry about the trash talk to other corps staff and members. I know personally I can not run a drum corps right now, but I hope everybody in the future who is thinking about starting a drum corps learns from this whole situation. I myself have contacted a few staff members of actually world class staff and have asked for advice and help in my career ( Donny Allen can back me up on this). Once again I want to say that I did not have anything to do with any of the claims coming from nagy, or had anything to do with the trash talking but I do want to say to the drum corps world that I am sorry about this situation. -
