  1. I agree with scoring being based on how much you beat your competition by, but it's still reasonable to compare shows across time, and numbers are a reasonable way of doing that. I still think a show like, for example, Cadets 2011, 2005, 2000, 1998, and yes, even as far back as 1993 (Cadets, OR Star, if you're one of those who thought they should have won), could still win, and is still a better product than anything we have from this year. Those kinds of visual programs (maybe even music) are still far superior to what I saw out of the top 4 corps tonight, and the scores should reflect as such.
  2. Yeah I like your enthusiasm...lol. There will be no records broken 3 weeks from now. It would be great to see BAC win the guard caption, and I think it's reasonable to think it's quite possible. But as far as record raw score, no way. SCV does not have the visual program to compete for, like I said earlier, more than a 98.00. They have a great musical program as far as difficulty, but it doesn't even rank in the top 10 of greatest musical programs in DCI history. Maybe in achievement, okay, they have such a great sound. But they don't sound as good as Blue Devils 2014 or Blue Devils 2010 (Through a Glass, Darkly). Those musical programs were just on another level.
  3. Madison Scouts did not have a bad show. I think the talent level and show writing has been rising in this tier of competition. Scouts' show is not a 16th place show any year but this year. They have nothing to be ashamed of. They're putting out a competent and entertaining product. 16th place is just incidental.
  4. If scores are still comparable to shows of the past, I don't think SCV's show deserves anything more than a 98.00 maximum. I would probably put it at 97.5 for the win, but that musical program, wow. They have such a big sound, and a very technically difficult musical program.
  5. I almost feel like SCV doesn't deserve that kind of a lead with the cruddy visual program they have, but it's still better than anyone close to them. Kind of an off year for visuals. It's been an off year for visual programs since Cadets 2011, IMO. Well I'll throw Crown 12 and 13 in there. Those were decent visual shows. But this year just takes the cake for it all. Just a bad visual year.
  6. I think that user has said that the guard work was difficult and they weren't achieving it well. But yes I remember that post in our corps thread. Way to go again to Shapiro for challenging his kids. If you can achieve or come close to achieving the content, then the content wasn't difficult enough, IMO.
  7. Boston wins guard, and Blue Stars 4th in Guard content! Blue Stars also 7th in total visual! Nice job! But they are way behind in music. Clean that brass and percussion!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting about this: Bluecoats GE1 = 9.1 and 9.2 GE2 = 9.5 and 9.05 One judge says they can't grow no more, and the other says they have a long ways to go. My logic cannot execute that process. One judge has to be right and the other wrong. Maybe we need 12 GE judges so that high and low anomalies can be taken out and the rest averaged.
  8. You are right. I do think Blue Knights were a bit cleaner. I did indeed thought the Knights would be about .75 ahead of Blue Stars but the seeding I'm sure affects things, even thought it shouldn't, because scoring is/should be objective :X I think the Stars have a bit more demand and if they were clean as the Knights they would probably jump them at Finals, but no way of knowing what will happen.
  9. Whooooo baby, over a point lead at the first major regional, and the other 3 below them are very close. Wow, Crown really caught up. Boston still keeping it very close with Cavs and Blue Stars first meeting vs Blue Knights resulted in a .18 deficit. Very close. And they have a decent lead over Phantom again. Well done. I think Cadets got 7th locked up. Now we stay up and wait for and discuss recaps :D
  10. I can't believe I'm saying this, but BD has a more coherent visual program than the other 2 in current medal range. And a little more than I'm accustomed to them having. The problem is that they're dirty. Both visually and musically, they're dirty, for BD standards. This corps just doesn't seem to "have it all" this season. Their percussion is great. SCV, their program is visually, well IDK, I think Boston and Cavs have a better visual package than the 4 above them. But OMG, SCV has such a big sound. And it's difficult. Like WTF difficult. I think they'll win because of that alone. Their musical GE, content and achievement all 3. SCV takes brass, percussion, overall Music, and Music GE. Blue Devils take proficiency and guard. By Finals I think they will take the whole Visual caption. Bluecoats take GE Visual and visual analysis. What I think will happen vs what I want to happen. Predicting top 12 ranking tonight: SCV BD Bluecoats ---- Crown Boston Cavs ----- Cadets Blue Knights Blue Stars ----- Phantom Crossmen Mandarins
  11. Rawr! I feel like BAC was better. But that brass line is a....well, beast.
  12. I'm watching on hi Cam. Is that picture of an upside down grumpy cat?
  13. Omg BAC I love it. Major happy flap cakes to you guys. I always feel that endings that end on a soft note are inferior to ones that go.out with a bang and leave everyone in the crowd on their feet. The soft endings just...you lose all that momentum and energy and people are much more apt to sit there and clap politely and enthusiastically rather than scream and throw babies. You know, the way Cadets 2000 and Regiment 2003 ended. Those were baby throwers. I guess they all can't be like that.
  14. Why did they end the show with an obviously dirty formation? I don't get it. They do this a lot throughout the show. End something with a curve and then move their bodies around to hide the formation? Are they trying to pull pages out of BD book to hide their visual program from being judged dirty because judges can't prove a scatter formation is dirty? Besides all that, they could use a real ending. This one is just lackluster and the audience reaction suggests it.
  15. What a beautiful ballade. Wish it we're longer. I feel like they could be right there neck and neck with Cadets and 1.5 ahead of Phantom if they were super clean...but they're not.
  16. To me, this show is just so....meh. Not as generic as the past couple years, but real close. They are clean and perform well, though. I think Blue Knights are above them. Really itching to see the Blue Stars. What? What is the meaning of this? What is this pink stuff? Are these the Cadets?
  17. Wow. Mandarins are making Finals this season. Wow. Congrats. Great show. Lots of playing and not moving. Reminds me of Blue Devils style concept and drill both. I think they beat Crossmen tonight but Crossmen show still has more meat on the bones. Their show is more difficult than Mandarins so I think they beat em out at the end but still best show Mandarins have ever done. Congrats.
  18. I'll ask again, can I pause the Flo Marching and come back to it where I left off and not miss anything if I need to take another intermission? Thx
  19. Quick question, is it possible to pause the stream and come back to it in 30 mins or so and pick up where I left off? I need another intermission.
  20. Madison was equal to or superior in every way to the Colts. Their show is good, and they perform it well, the show just doesn't have enough meat on the bones to get them into the Finals convo it seems.
  21. I have no idea what The Colts' show was about. Definitely better performance than anyone else before them.
