100% disagree. Bloo has a definite concept and inspiration behind their show (Renee Magritte's art) whereas the Devils in Blue had a show that was more random and cluttered with absolute absurdity. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVED the Blue Devils last year, but I don't think that Bloo is ripping them off at all. You could argue that 2008 BD was a rip off of 2005 Cadets as well in regards to the absurdity and intelligence behind the show. Just a thought With that being said- I can't WAIT to see Bloo in July!!!

Not really, but I'm dying to figure out what they're doing this year!!!!!! I hope they do either a show that is reminiscent of their "fun times" (2003-2007) or something COMPLETELY out of character for them (something really dark or really emotional). Seeing as they never officially announced their show, it was hard for me to get what it was about without a pre-season announcement. Anyone heard any rumors or anything? I don't think members are allowed to post on DCP, and I get that, but I'm dying to know how my favorite corps will be entertaining me this sumer!

Who do you think is going to come out and surprise the drum corps community this year? I think the Cadets will surprise us all in that a "traditional" can have a modern, entertaining spin on it. I think Crown will come out fighting in a whole new way, but will place around 8th (just a guess), but will be the fan favorite. I think they're going to rattle the cage this year. Spirit- I think they will be really impressive this year. They could've made finals last year if their visual program was better. They're gonna surprise us with a popular show. Colts- they're going to surprise us with how far they've fallen in the last few years... Jersey Surf- they're going to surprise people with how "good" you can be without the standard touring schedule Pioneer- they will surprise many and won't finish last! Your turn........

I agree with that. I believe that the corps who don't use synths (Surf, SCV(?), Madison (?)) etc will be the fan favorites and will have new followings- they will prove something. I know Surf is "anti-electronics" ( I feel like the farthest that they will ever go is amping the pit) and I respect them that much more for it. I know a lot of DCI will be rooting for the corps who don't go down the path of synthesizers in their show design.

In my opinion: Jersey Surf- a lot of talk about them being "world class" level since 07. hopefully that helps them and doesn't hurt them Phantom- they just won a championship and have to prove that it won't be another 10+ year wait for the next one Cavies- they have to prove that they aren't boring and are growing as an organization. the visual package with boring music is getting really old. Crown- that they aren't just the "underdog" anymore Cadets- that they actually ARE innovative and not just BOA level "gimmicky" Blue Stars- that they are finalist contenders and are there to stay

So I've been thinking about something for a while now, and I want to know what people think... What if the membership of say, the Cadets all went to a lower tier corps lets say, Spirit for one summer. Do you think "Spirit" would place the same as the Cadets. I know this goes along with the long asked question "What if two corps switched uniforms for a show?" but I'm wondering if politics actually do influence judging. This would be a really interesting experiment.
