  1. You know , a couple of years ago I heard that a large group of people were going to get together at the GAS . They were all going to play 3 part tunes together on long frenchies .Did anybody else ever hear of the group ? I think their name had something to do with trains ,like Midnight Express . that would be a lot of fun. Polish up those Frenchies ! Mike D.
  2. Hi Ray , I really can't say for sure . I don't know what plans all of the guys have .It is possible that some are going to play & others would go to see the show .Could be one of those impulse things..the night before.....Hey lets go to Garfield tomorrow ! & get some pizza!!!! Mike D.
  3. t thanks for the kind words Andy . I am sure they would make Buzzy happy .If you saw us at Brooklyn ,wait till you see & hear the whole hornline.I am looking forward to hearing all the great players that will be there too . Should be a great time ! Mike D.
  4. Hey Frank, We got the word this past Sunday at rehearsal .St Kevins is going to be at the show .We are going to do an exhibition . Looking forward to it. we have quite a bit of new music .So if you havent seen Kevins lately or in many years come to the show ! Mike D.
  5. I have a BU-10 Olds & it is mint -new in the case with the papers .I love to take it out & play some of the old stuff on it .I dont know if my arms are old & weak or what ,but how did we march ,play ,& hold those longies up in the 60s without cracking too much. Man just sitting in a chair playing its tough to hold that bugle up .You cant beat the sound . Do you think the reason Corps don't use them is that they are tough to play in tune ?After playing the french ,if I switch to my King K-50 mell it feels light as a feather & lots easyer to play ! Mike D. quote name='Ray Priester' date='Feb 9 2009, 05:11 PM' post='2473311'] Yes they are, Larry. Should I put one aside for you???? Ray
  6. Nice horn , too bad the guys opening bid is way too high . Sometimes people just dont realize what they have in these old valve-rotor bugles . Even the Alumni corps are getting away from them .Add in that this a frenchie .I don,t think anybody uses French horns anymore .Maybe Skyliners Alumni . I am in the St Kevins midrange section .Back in the "Day" Kevins was noted for their French horn section & that special sound .I think its sad that we don,t use Frenchies either. That horn is a nice collector . Mike D.
  7. Hi All , Yesterday at rehearsal we got the word. The St. Kevin Emerald Knights will be doing an exhibition at the Buglers Hall of Fame show in Ct. on March 28. It will be our pleasure to perform on a bill with all the best of our time. So if you have not heard Kevins in years or even lately , come to the show . We now have a show of the Classic Kevins tunes with some new stuff blended in as well . A real treat ! Mike D.

  11. Thanks for the kind words Andy . you are OK ! Hey was that you that wrote the piece on "Jumpin" Joe Genero in a Corps mag. a couple of years ago .Great poem ! He was my Drum Corps inspiration too , as he was for many others. Can still see him cup his ear & want more power .Oh Man !!!

  13. Hi Andy, All of that stuff happened for us in 2002 .Mickey Patrone invited Kevins to The Alumni Classic. We had just finished an exhibition at the DCA show in E. Prov. RI. We were a pretty new Corps at the time & just didnt have the money to send the whole Corps. two buses equals big dollars .Sadly ,Mickey passed away & we were never invited back. There is NO doubt in my mind that St. Kevins would love to attend & We would do our Name & Corps history proud. Mike
