  1. the best bass players are really strong snare guys - IMO. Obviously the #2 is "hardest" but also agree that #1 from a head standpoint is challenging. Marching #1 & #5 are #### tough. the cadet video here just demonstrates how strong these players are... even in the winter (this video was March!!??)
  2. The bass #2 timing is so strong. I'm a big bass #2 guy. Bass #1 is key, but bass #2 timing is EVERYTHING.
  3. 2009 Crown show was a masterpiece. 2010 was a very good drum corps with a show with some design issues. The "redo" ending was universally panned at the time. It was so out of place. I still enjoy both shows though, 2010 certainly had some great moments.
  4. Think Steve Jobs. The guy literally "changed the world" but was almost universally disliked. Hopkins has played a big role in literally changing the drum corps world Now who knows what would have been in computer and/or drum corps without them. But it is what it is. Change is very uncomfortable for most people. Very. Objects are rest tend to stay at rest.
  5. very true... to some degree. This one seems more about teaching staff and support staff than "just" a money thing
  6. I appreciate the enthusiasm. Let's see how it plays out. My "kitchen sink" reference was only in respect to the long repertoire list. Mash ups sort of went out when Glee! went off the air. JMO
  7. as Spring Training arrives - it's important to remember where they came from:
  8. Will do. I'm there Thursday/Friday - have to fly out Saturday morning for biz :(
  9. Holy Bass Cadets 2016 (from March camp!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrgxtLkAMzI Hadn't seen this one before...
  10. That would be cool. Last year a month out - Cadets were rolling. A week out it seemed like Crown. A day out I saw BD in the rear view mirror. And bam! This year a back and forth win year would be cool where corps are beating each other. Like 90.
  11. Eh. For me it is more a love/hate. Lol. For example, HATED "Stoned" I'm more moody about Cadets than folks think. My last show I loved from them was 2005. Been a while! (I did love the 2013 music though...)
  12. U in Indy? I will buy you a drink. (or 3)
  13. it would be cool to see some elements from that WGI show - which was incredible obviously, along with a splash of Cadets 1996 (what a guard!) and a bit more of a modern "take" on the whole thing. "Different Beast" kind of vibe. This actually is right up the alley of the Mad Max show I pitched for them this past winter. Different music but same range of emotions.. love, loss, anger, hope. Sounds awesome. If anyone can pull it off, it's Crown.
  14. well that's what makes it interesting, we don't know... Just BD show sounds really good. And they have practically the whole corps back! They may not lose. JMO
  15. agreed, but this isn't a money thing. They want to draft a new educational staff and time is too short for this fall. Literally the planning starts NOW
  16. Cadets. Mods - please close this thread. I just ended the discussion :)
  17. Sounds like the kitchen sink. JMO Reading the top corps programs - sounds like a BD year depending on Cadets visual aspect...
  18. God you won't give it a rest. Did Hopkins steal your girlfriend or something?? The jealousy/hatred is really a bit much. Lol
  19. that is not the case... They are nominated and they have to be voted in by the BOD. BOD members or Hopkins can nominate.
  20. oh that's not an inappropriate comment at all...
  21. it's not "folding" - it will be back after 1 season break
  22. Today Cadets administration and teaching staff start moving in to camp for Spring Training Tomorrow the Cadets 2016 members arrive!
