  1. If you go back a few threads you'll see where I also said I had some reservations about the closer. I feel the rest of the show flows together very well with nice transitions. The closer, right now, feels choppy. Will be very interested to see what they do with that....and I'm sure it'll be amazing. I'm so excited about this show. I haven't been this giddy over a Scouts show in quite a few years. They've had some great shows that I thoroughly enjoyed.....but this show has an "IT" factor that I just can't explain. I know this production will bring the crowd to their feet in several spots.
  2. I've seen video of two shows so far, Crown and Scouts. Now yes, I see the drum corps world through my Green glasses, but I think the reason I dig this year's Madison show is because it is very much a traditional show. It has the things shows have to have to be competitive...ie, clear theme, body movement, etc....but if you're looking for traditional as far as fast, complex drill, screaming sopranos/trumpets, LOUD in your face horn book, recognizable and accesible music...it's about as traditional as you could ask for. It mixes, very well, the modern with the past.
  3. I'm sure there will be many changes and tweeks as the season goes along. The ending, as is, certainly doesn't go "thud". It's an ending that will bring the crowds to their feet. It just takes a big to get there.
  4. After watching the final Trafalgar run through, I do have one concern about the show. I know it's early and there's plenty of time to fix/change/correct....but toward the end, from about just before the company front push to the end....it feels a little scattered and disjointed. It doesn't seem to flow all that well. The best description I could think of is someone telling you a very cool story, they're just about to bring the story full circle, but they keep stretching it along and periodically talk about something else before finally getting to the point. Does that make sense? Am I the only one that thinks the ending could use some smoothing out?
  5. I know there is always a lot of hype for Scouts each year, but this year's show feels different. This production has that IT factor. It will blow crowds away visually and musically and will appease judges in difficulty and theme. They have ab amazing product to work with this year and the level they're already at with it is amazing.
  6. GOOOOOD LORD.....Listening to the clips on the Madison alumni facebook site...I'm so pumped. Pretty amazed at the quality this early, but the music itself is just WOW level.
  7. I see folks mentioning Scouts 99 here, and while it didn't score that well it is still regarded as a Scouts classic. An underated Scouts show would be 98. Sandwiched between Pirates in 97 and JCS in 99 it is very much forgotten. But that show was solid, difficult (especially drumline), and a crowd pleaser. Maybe I'm a bit biased, though, since I marched that one.
  8. 99 Scouts with the drill move..WOWZA. 08 Phantom with the herald trumpets 14 BD....amaze ballz
  9. Send private message to me as well. Thanks.. MYNWA
  10. Chris Harmon joining the instructional staff....man oh man...bringing more and more guys back from the 90s. Love it.
  11. I know it's been mentioned in the staff change thread, but why not bring it here too..... Ian Lewis and KC Perkins to head color guard but, for me, the "WOW" is Van Mathews and Bill Zeier coming back to Scouts brass staff. Boerma, Van, Bill.........
  12. It would't let me delete those two stupid reposts...love computer technology sometimes
  13. I've given this idea a few times in previous posts, so why not again. I would love to see Scouts do something along the lines of Gladiator. The music from the soundtrack is awesome in itself but there can plenty of other pieces too. Great music, story lines abound...similar to Pirates 97 or even PR Sparticus. Fast, driving, loud, ANGRY music and drill.

  16. Death Hunt..yes. not sure where I got Bear Hunt. My fav repeat was PR 90 and 91 with Bacchanale
  17. Listening to my "dinosaur" DCI recordings, I got to thinking...when was the last time a corps repeated a tune the following year? And how would that go over in current drum corps. The last I can think of was Phantom 93 and 94 when they played "Bear Hunt"
  18. 94 BD would be the last championship show doing Spanish if my memory serves me correct.
  19. Since it is being discussed, i will say again...I would love to see Scouts do something along the lines of Gladiator. Similar to Pirates in 97, PR Sparticus. Angry, loud, heart-pumpping...just....RAWR.
  20. Heat Wave taking any caption over Southwind tnite is a joke. Mandarins WERE on fire and they have an awesome show.
  21. Spirit: on last as Opelika/Auburn is their home show. Very dirty across the board. Plus show just kind of plods along. I think the design staff outhought themselves with this show. Spirit gonna do an encore and Im headed out. Hope you guys enjoyed following along.
  22. I like Blue Stars show. Cool concept, cool tricks, great sound. A lot going on all over. They seem decidedly cleaner than Scouts. I'm a Scouts homer but it wouldn't surprise me to see Stars over Scouts tnite.
