  1. That's a ridiculous response to Grumpy. I'm sure he bought the tickets first and for most like most of us did, he loves Drum Corps, he passionate about the activity, and he wanted the best seat possible for the weekend. and since historically the best seat in a DC show has always been up and as close to the 50( and those are the most expensive seats) that's grupy's fault? n Come on! Finals has never been in the venue, how was anyone to guess how bad the sound would bounce around? Now I guess DCI will have to figure out a way to sit the entire audience in the judges pressbox since evidently thats the only place in the stadium that doesn't have major issues with sound. Everyone suck your guts in, it's gonna be a tight fit. But hey!! the sound quality will be great, great, great, great, great......!!!
  2. I agree with Bob's philosophy as well. But as a business you cannot produce inferior product and charge the same price without repercussions from the consumer. It may not affect DCI short term, but will eventually catch up with them. DCI has driven out cost the last two years by changing the packaging to a smaller case, 2 less DVD's, and fewer options. If Tom Blair is charging more for his services and technology ( which Im sure he is), there is other producing companies that I'm sure would like the opportunity to make a proposal to make a product that provides better margin for DCI and satisfies the consumers expectations. As a Drum Corps fan, I don't want DCI to be effected negatively by theyre business decisions. I want DC to grow and become stronger for future generations.
  3. This is just my take, but when DCI and Tom Blair Productions came out with the Finals DVD's in 2000 they set a new standard for the way we view Drum Corps in our homes. With special features like Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 Dolby Surround (2001) By far the best audio I've heard Corps Designer Commentary GE Visual Judge GE Music Judge Percussion Judge Video: Multi Camera High Angle Camera Percussion Iso Color Guard Iso These options set the bar and the standard for how we should watch Drum Corps in our living rooms. The last two years, DCI has decided to take a huge step back and offer only Dolby Digital for the audio, and Multi Camera and High camera angles for our video options on two DVD's. But they are still wanting us to pay the same high price we were when we had all the options. Apply that logic to any other area of business ( cars, electronics, homes) and it wouldn't fly. Why is it flying in this case? I think DCI should ether give us back our options of lower the cost of the DVD's. They're already making us watch Finals in the Grand Canyon of all venues. How about allowing us to watch the DVD's the way they were meant to be watched?
  4. You hit the nail right on the head Nick. The people that are posting that you should be able to change or adapt your show to meet the needs of the venue, have obviously never marched Drum Corps. They don't understand what it takes to be consistent, and strive to march that perfect show.
