Who Hasn't Announced?
dcpincollector replied to chadwick's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
This is a tired topic. Opinion is opinion. Everybody has one. Are they all correct? No. Are they all wrong? No. People tend to congregate and converse with people that share their views. Just becasue you count 100 does not make what you say a fact. 100 people in a crowd of 25,000 (typical finals attendance) is only 0.4%. Is 0.4% important? Yes. Will it make or break DCI? The future will tell. -

Who Hasn't Announced?
dcpincollector replied to chadwick's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
"Kinda" does not make it so. Organizations are always trying to expand the fan base. 40 people may seem like a lot, but these are people that think the way you do. It does not mean that your views are the same as the majority. Once again I will say that just because it seems obvious to you, does not mean that the majority are of the same opinion. This is my humble opinion. -

Really???? DCP??? It is an opinion forum and as I said before: Those who make the most noise aren't necessarily the majority. Statistically relevant? Yes. The majority? No. -

My point is they may not be in the majority. Just because they make the most noise doesn't mean they speak for the majority. One needs to be careful when they believe their views are also shared by everyone else. It may not be so. -
Who Hasn't Announced?

Remember, the people that have issues or problems with something always talk or complain the most. The people who don't have issues or problems with something, don't speak up enough (IMO). The loadest or most strident voices are not always in the majority. -

Is this your opinion? Or do you have facts to back it up? Just because the people you know aren't buying tickets doesn't mean everyone agrees and is following suit. -

Has your view of DCI changed lately ?
dcpincollector replied to BRASSO's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
If you don't want to support the activity....don't. If you want to live in the past....go ahead. If you want to scream your criticisms so that everyone can hear....go ahead. If you have an opinion.....great. Just remember that I also have an opinion. If you want to critize DCI....go ahead. If you want to speak with your wallets...do it. What would you do if it were gone? I would be heartbroken. -

I never made any digs at DCA. If you read what I said you will see that I am correct. The only "dig" I made was saying that if you wanted to see the ultimate in drum corps (execution/ pagentry etc.) you had to look at DCI. DCA corps could not outscore a top DCI corps. This is a fact that no one has denied. The reasons are many (practice time/ amount of shows etc.) but nobody can deny this. This is the ONLY "dig" I made of DCA. In fact on numerous occasions I stated that I liked DCA. Read the posts! Some people have really thin skin and see anything contrary to their opinion to be an attack. I hope that you are not one of these people. -

Anybody can feel anyway they want, but I believe that the "haters (your term)" are ruining drum corps. I feel the same way concerning the "haters (your term)" of DCA. That is exactly how I feel. There are too few supporters as it is. We should all band together to support all drum corps. -

If you think it is...then it is. If you want to keep widening the divisions....go ahead. -
Has your view of DCI changed lately ?

My comments had everything to do with the thread. You were asking if our opinions of DCA have changed. Mine did not. I have always enjoyed DCA. What happened in that thread was posters were using your "creation" to lambast DCI again. This was supposed to be about DCA, not rehashing all of the "problems" with DCI. So my comments actually did try to get your "creation" away from lambasting DCI to taking about the good of DCA. If you read my posts, I stated more than once that DCA was DCA and that I enjoyed seeing the shows. Just look at this thread. Somebody decided that instead of saying whether there opinions of DCI had changed that they would recount a "story" showing the "evils" of DCI and the wonders of how the DCA was able to "overcome" the slight and take the "high" road. Did this have anything to do with the thread? No. It only could serve to divide the circuits even more. All I remember about that show was how much I enjoyed it and wished that shows like this could happen more often. And then we have to hear how something wonderful and fun was actually "tainted" by the actions of a "DCI Official". You tell me if this actually helps to advance the activity? -

What did this have to do with the thread? Great story! But what does it have to do with the question? Has your view of DCI changed? I personnally don't believe the that the comments were made by DCI (IMO), but I am sure you might have heard that someone might have said them. What people say often changes as it is passed person to person. It's a great story (and I am sure that the DCI kids did enjoy the concert), but I don't believe the comments were made by a DCI "official". I enjoyed that show. Both the DCI and DCA corps. We should do this a lot more often, but I doubt that it will ever happen with stories like this swirling around. Do you really think that DCI is the "bad" guy? -
I agree with you. For me personally I do not get many opportunities to see Open class corps because I only have so many vacation days and I mainly go to the big shows (usually 12 - 15) a summer. I do enjoy seeing Open class corps when they get to compete in these competitions. You are correct that they do not get the same attention as World Class corps
-
I never made a dig at DCA. If you would look for good in all the shows as you were "watching", I think that you might find it. The reason that you would find it is because it is there. In fact, it is there in every DCA and DCI show. I think maybe you should change your wording from "dislike" to "I did not like it as much as i.e.Blue Devisl. But I liked it". But I cannot tell you what to do. I am just trying to help you increase your viewing enjoyment at shows.

Why is this in the DCA forum? Isn't this about DCI? ........Oh, I forgot.............. Seems like the other thread similar to this did not start with a litany of criticisms (Did you check the list above to make sure you listed all of them? You wouldn't want to miss any!). I guess that this is in the proper forum. The DCA forum.
