  1. 1. Cadets - The concept is so appealing to me and their early season execution is phenomenal. I think this definitely has the makings of a championship show but will have to deal with the liking of Crown and the BD. As far as appeal goes, the Cadets have my vote. 2. Phantom Regiment - The show is absolutely beautiful. In my opinion, they are back. Although I am always hopeful, they won't win. But the show will bring in many more fans than last year. 3. Cavaliers - What really gets me about this year is the section in the middle of their show where everyone grabs a rifle and does the visual work. "boom shacka locka, boom shacka locka". I'm optimistic to see how far this show can go. Honorable Mention- Glassmen and Crown
  2. Yeah, I'm going to be that guy. I was just wondering, because we have more than a library of knowledge here, if any of you who marched in the past or are currently marching could fill me in on the mouthpieces being used. I'm not necessarily looking to switch but more or less wondering what's out there. Forgive me if this topic has been started and ended many times before, I'm new. (Also, posted this earlier in the world class forum but am now moving it here)
  3. Whoops. Completely disregarded the brass forum. My apologies.

  5. forgive me, I just graduated from high school. I'm still stuck on the word "band".
  6. I was in Madison last night and was fortunate to see the Cavies, Cadets, Glassmen, Scouts, Blue Stars, and some others. As far as pure volume goes, the Glassmen or the Scouts were the loudest. The Scouts opener was pure "pedal to the metal" intensity for almost the first 25 seconds. One thing that I noticed about the Cavaliers was that their synth sometimes covered up the band. At the end of a large crescendo, it seemed that even though the corps was getting louder that the synth might have covered up climax of the corps. So, for pure volume, as of last night, and with the limited number of corps I saw, I would have to say that the Glassmen are the loudest this year.
  7. I've always been a huge fan of the ensemble sound that the Phantom Regiment produces. The opening to 2003 takes my breath away every time I hear it. Ever since I saw that show, I've always wanted to be a part of that sound. I've also considered the Scouts. I'm from the Milwaukee area so the Blue Stars are further than either Phantom or the Cavies.
  8. Thanks a lot guys. I've also considered auditioning for the Cavaliers (total opposites, I know). But, I'm from Wisconsin and those two are pretty close.
  9. I plan on auditioning for the Phantom Regiment in the fall on trumpet and I was just wondering if you guys have any tips, advice, practice ideas to prepare for drum corps, etc. Thanks in advance for all the help!
  10. Hey everyone. I'm a 19 year old from Wisconsin and I play the trumpet (bring on the jokes). Just looking to really add something to the forums. Oh, by the way, favorite corps, Phantom Regiment. Looking forward to being a frequent poster!
