Biggest obstacle I see is that DCA doesn't have enough quality judges for all these shows on the same weekend. They struggle now to use a mixture of "regional" and "regular" judges. I think they do their best when it comes to scheduling vs expenses. Maybe 3 regions, but 4 or 5 I do not believe is achievable at the level we all want.

I saw this scuffle on the back side of the field on Sat night with... I believe Hurcs and Bucs drum staff. Did anyone else see this? I believe Kevin Murphy and one of the techs from Bucs got into it first then it was on, Corps directors and all were in the cirlce of about 20 people. For all the these people who were in this, that wants everyone to think that you are just teaching kids and promoting the activity, you should be ashamed of yourself and corps should be fined by DCA, and put on some sort of probation (Directors and all). Did anyone else see this?

Comparing apples to apples Empire has closed the gap to Bucs, even with a small # of corps in their competition last week, and Empire has not lost to either Hurs or Cabs. Empire closed down every caption and even winning sub captions last week and if continues to clean this Extremely exciting show..Who knows. My thought is DCA keeps it tight before finals and who knows in the end. Bucs Empire within 1.??? pts Hurcs close to Empire asit has been all year Cabs...very very close to Hurcs Bush..who will surprise

How does Empire win ensemble perc by .3, win music effect to a different group by .3 and finish 4th in field perc? This does not add up to me. I understand that the brass line at Empire won their captions (and could have won by more) and this is part of the GE Music, BUT Ed Argenziano the field perc. judge must have been trying to avoid tripping on the newly painted lines on a new field @ Dietz Stadium and not this drumline. I also may add that i do not recall him even being on the field to adjudicate this group ....He was hanging out on the front sideline quite a bit. Again this does not add up, someone explain it to me.

Again VOR you really are an Empire Hater. I know you said you aren't, but every response you post has a very interesting Empire thread to it. By the way if you think Bucs don't shuffle between the 30's while doing some smoke and mirrors act (in and out of full and half time marching, and may I add...most horns are not playing during this) you need to watch again. Oh..that's right you werent there.. Also watch the drum line slide side to side in the back of the field, doing NOTHING to enhance the visual ensemble. Oh yea...you must be very young or have a crazy work schedule to post at the times you do...be careful Tom A will find you. BUT somehow Bucs get the job done..Kudos to them Spruce

Just so the rest of you know this: Affect is always a verb. it means to bring on or cause a change, or to cause emotion, to provoke feelings (good or bad). it can also mean to adopt a false characteristic. Effect can be either a noun or a verb. As a noun, it means the result of something (cause and effect). As a verb, it means the same thing as the verb "effectuate", which means to bring about, or to accomplish. Mr Allen you are a profound man and speak with much knowledge and truth. All I know is that someone is going to get smart and work at fixing their shows deficiencies and make a run at the 5X champions this year. WHO WILL IT BE? That's the question. Spruce

I know both Empire & MBI have been very quiet on DCP. This maybe an indication of their focus and drive this season not to come up short and second guess themselves come Labor Day. Just remember to knock off a great champion like Bucs...you need to knock them out, can't leave any doubt. Not sure if either can do that this season.....we will see. Anyway...back on topic, I like Empire this weekend. Great show, VERY underrated drum line and CG and may be horn champions at the end of the year. Spruce
