  3. So, as we had in 2009 and 2010, I figured we could start a *humorous* top 10 list of why the Blue Devils will not win. DISCLAIMER: Please, don't bash the corps. This is meant to give everyone a few laughs, whether you are a die-hard BD fan or you don't agree with them. So without further ado, here is the list: 10. Mandarins have accidentally summoned a mighty spirit that will emerge from the heavens during BD's show and cause chaos. Blue Devils' score drops 50 points due to having their show just utterly ruined. Mandarins gain 50 points because, well, summoning a Mayan deity has to give you at least an extra 50 points in GE. 09: Phantom revolts and sends both the Chinese and the Romans on Blue Devils, simultaneously beheading and stabbing their drum major, all while shouting "I AM CALIFCUS!!!" 08: The Cavaliers add 15 dance segments with each being 15 minutes long to the end of their show. Boston Crusaders win because there is simply no time remaining for Bluecoats - Blue Devils to perform. 07: George Hopkins 06: We actually get a French speaking judge who realizes that the French narrator has been sending subliminal messages to the judges the entire season. 05: The Cadets add more Linus lines to the show, which pushes them past BD, just because Linus melts everyone's heart. 04: Blue Knights make an actual spaceship to land during their show. Aliens win with a score that is out of this world. 03: After realizing how amazing the Jersey Surf tribute show is, Bridgemen find a way to perform at Finals. They win. By lot. 02: *Possible spoiler for Dark Knight Rises* Carolina Crown tries to add more superhero elements to their show, including Batman dropping in on Blue Devils show shouting "WHERE'S THE TRIGGER????" during Blue Devils show and the scores. Crown wins because no one can hear over trying to figure out exactly what Batman is saying. 02b. Or, Crown hires Morgan Freeman to narrate their show for them. With Morgan Freeman, you can't lose. Ever. 01: ...you decide what the number one reason is. Please, keep them in good faith, and don't intentional bash the corps. Blue Devils die-hards, please don't take this seriously, as it is honestly just an attempt at humor. So, what is that number one reason, fellow DCPer's? Or post several.

  12. The topic wasn't about adding woodwind instruments, it was about corps using music written for woodwinds.
  13. Being a clarinet performance major, I've heard and played a wide range of songs that I think could be used in a DCI setting. For example, the second movement of Scott McAllister's "X Concerto" or the second movement of Brahms' "Second Sonata for Clarinet and Piano" would sound great on the field, in my opinion. And there are many others out there. Does anyone else share my opinion that DCI corps should maybe try branching out their repertoire (not instrumentation) to include this kind of music? If not, why? If so, who do you think might utilize these pieces first? The pieces I mentioned above:
  14. 8/3, Allentown Carolina Crown: 95.250 Blue Devils: 95.150 Phantom Regiment: 92.450 Bluecoats: 90.650 Spirit of Atlanta: 85.250 Spread: 10.000 Colts (10) Pacific Crest (10) Trooper (10) Mandarins (10) Pioneer (10)

  17. If you are talking about in the very beginning, then that is an operatic version of Lady Gaga's "Papparazzi"
  18. 7/30, Charleston Blue Devils: 93.400 Phantom Regiment: 90.900 Spread: 2.500 7/30, Raleigh Boston Crusaders: 86.500 Spirit of Atlanta: 84.200 Spread: 2.300
  19. Lately, when you buy a collectors edition DVD, you may see an alternate ending for a movie that seems like an improvement over the original. This got me thinking: could certain shows have ended differently? For example, one that I thought about was The Cavaliers 2010: Mad World I think it would've been neat if the corps picked the rifles back up again, got into the block and did an abbreviated "This Is My Rifle," except instead of "It IS My Life," they could have said "This WAS My Life" and chucked the rifles away before the park and blow of Dismantling Utopia.
  20. CorpsVets take the field in an hour, so I'd say the broadcast will begin in about 30-45 minutes.
  21. 7/28, Atlanta Blue Devils: 93.750 Carolina Crown: 93.200 Phantom Regiment: 90.200 The Cadets: 88.400 Santa Clara Vanguard: 87.750 Spread: 6.000 Bluecoats (10) Madison Scouts (5) The Cavaliers (3) Boston Crusaders (3) Spirit of Atlanta: (1) Blue Knights (1) Crossmen (1)
  22. 7/27, Murfreesboro Blue Devils: 92.400 Carolina Crown: 91.800 Spread: 0.600
  23. 7/26, Little Rock The Cadets: 89.100 Bluecoats: 86.700 Spread: 2.400
