From my experience as a pit member tuning concert bass heads over the last few summers...I've been taught a few different methods....well not really methods...but the batter head should be tuned to a relatively low note...i'm a big fan of tuning it down to a D or even D#...i've had pit techs who like them as low as C...but whatever you do...make it sound nice all around in front of the drum....then have some one hit it while you sit in the bleachers...to make sure you can feel it.

for whoever said the acoustalon is louder than pearl's synthetic...that wouldn't really apply in this situation...Mcnutt and Moyer use Rosewood on the field and rosewood sounds a million times better than synthetic no matter what the circumstances...but as for this year...i heard they're going with synthetic's for reheasal and rosewood for shows (just like the cavies do after midseason)...expect Colin's typical GIANT pit this summer as well...should be amazing...and about the cymbals...they've officially switched over to Zildjian from Paiste.

I'm tryin to find a decent condition 4.3 marimba with graduated bars. I'm lookin for anything.

my personal fav..... 84 BD....that backfield solo....it's short, simple, but Awesome! i just love how it echoes off the back bleachers. Kudos to that soloist
