  1. While I love my King Marching Tuba, I would always choose my 191 or Kanstul in a concert setting.
  2. Representatives and workers of a lot of companies check DCP frequently to find inputs on their product, Kanstul has a guy check the Brass forums everyday. If you have a problem with the horns, send a message to the company. Don't just bash on a horn company because you personally don't like some of their products.
  3. There are people who do BDA/BDB during the summer, and do WinterGuard/Percussion at SCV, from what I understand, BD has 2 WGI guards. There has been people that commute from the South Bay (SCV Area) who drive up to Concord to march with BD, also people who live in SoCal, who drive up to NorCal to march SCV/BD even though they have a few corps down there, also people from Sacramento(Mandarins area) who are also marching BD/SCV. If they really want to march a certain corps, they'll make it happen.
  4. The San Francisco Renegades are looking for motivated musicians to fill our hornline, we have openings in all brass sections (Brass background recomended, but not required), and we are looking for a few more people to fill our Guard, Our next camp will be in Sunnyvale, CA at The King's Academy, Saturday from 10am-9pm, Sunday from 9am-4pm. Any questions can be asked here or send an email to info@renegades.org

  6. Just wondering if Contrabass Trombone mouthpieces have the same shank as Tuba Mouthpieces, or standard Bass (Larage Bore) trombone shank. Or if they are completely their own thing.
  7. BDB always has tuba holes, and I believe they have other openings in their hornline, email rodello@bluedevils.org for more info *also for kids aged 8-14 there is BDC, a great way to learn the fundamentals of what drum corps is about, a lot of the staff are the same staff for BDA/BDB and veterans of the organization. Contact rodello@bluedevils.org for more info
  8. Here is our Closer from the 2011 season "Mombasa & Awakening" Our April camp will be held at The King's Academy in Sunnyvale, CA Address - 562 N. Britton Ave Sunnyvale, CA Saturday - 10am-9pm Sunday - 9am-4pm We are looking for brass players to fill Soprano, Baritone and Contra holes.
  9. I agree, food can be served by Kinder's and drinks served by Legend's.
  10. During finals week, our temperature in Santa Clara is usually lower 80s to high 80s
  11. We did the same thing this past season with the Freelancers Alumni (Thank you Freelancers!)
  12. Ahh yes, I forgot about the bike paths. Also considering the stadium is next to a theme park, families could spend a day or two in the park (and people who don't know about DCI could find themselves watching Finals)
  13. The surrounding area of the stadium also has plenty of warmup areas, the GA parking lots, various businesses across the street and the convention center. There is a parking lot BEHIND the theme park for employees where the corps can warm up, and possibly cut through the park to get to the stadium
  14. We have a lot in store for DCA :)
  15. Ive lived in Santa Clara all my life. Our city is nothing like Pasadena, quite frankly, the crime rate in Southern CA is much higher than Santa Clara. And only few people have stated this, Santa Clara is in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. The tuba thefts are happening in Southern California. The surrounding area of the stadium (San Jose,Santa Clara,Sunnyvale) is 100x safer than Southern California. We have plenty of schools in the bay area that can house corps, Santa Clara has dozens of hotels (especially around the stadium) for spectators.
  16. As people have stated above, if you don't have what it takes to do a WC/OC corps, try DCA for a season or two. There are many corps out there that have holes (pretty much all DCA corps). And the cost of marching is a lot lower.
  17. TWISTED (twst) v. twist·ed 1. To move or progress in a winding course. 2. To alter or distort the mental, moral, or emotional character. 3. A contortion or distortion of the body. 4. To alter or distort the intended meaning. 5. A change in direction; a turn. 6. A personal inclination or eccentricity. 7. An unexpected change in a process or a departure from a pattern, often producing a distortion or perversion. Over the past 12 years, the San Francisco Renegades have defied tradition and shattered expectations with their groundbreaking and in your face style of drum corps. 2012 brings their most daring production yet – TWISTED. Featured music includes: "Twisted Nerve" by Bernard Herrmann "Death Hunt" by Bernard Herrmann "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette "Break from Reality", an original composition by Brian Sears "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse
  18. SCV & Blue Devils. SCV because I grew up (and live) in Santa Clara, and would go to the hall every Sunday to watch them rehearse. And BD because I saw them warming up at Finals 07, and the something about them was just awesome.
  19. I remember seeing a picture of the Madison Scouts 2010 tuba line, I'm now wondering, who've had the largest lines for each section?
  20. Any word on who bought the jacket? I would hope that the jacket be returned to the hall, and if Brian ever comes back to claim it, have a firm talking to by some of the other alumni from that season....
  21. We are still looking to close our horn holes! We have openings for all brass positions (soprano, mellophone, baritone and contrabass). The corps will have MANY things going on this season, come to our next camp to find out what they are!
  22. I'm guessing he was using his phone while posting this. We still have openings in all sections for our hornline! Our next camp is on March 24-25th at the location above.
