Crowd went NUTS for BD's opening drill!

Crowd was decidedly for Bloo tonight. Saw both on live stream from the stands. That's why were were talking about this in the first place.

I just love that we have the two going at each other (and SCV & Crown too!). It only benefits the viewer, as these kids will be pushed to their limits!

I have to say, I'm very impressed at how Bloo has responded. It's like when you watch the stars at the end of a game, they only get better when they are under pressure. Pretty awesome to watch.

That show is going to be off the hook!

"We know that sometimes [those moments] happen in the break between two captions. It's that magic moment when our fans are driven to stand up. They don't know why they're standing up, but they're just standing up and screaming or crying or responding to this super sensitive moment. You find that when you box the judges in, we were limiting the judge to be unable to experience the performance the same way that the audience gets it, which is as a whole."

Yeah, I think Crown would get a nice bump. I'm just saying give the crowd what they want! Doesn't have to limit the show design at all.

Disagree to a point. I think audiences LOVE creativity. They also love seeing the traditional drum corps stuff. There is a way to do both (see TILT)

Would love to see part of the GE score be a crowd reaction score. It would be great for DCI. It would force designers to create shows that audiences enjoy more, no? (not saying BD's show isn't entertaining, the crowd loves them! Especially that intro!)

Bloo would have won that handily tonight. So that's not it.

Bloo's soloists were much better than BD's tonight. Did you watch the shows? It wasn't even close. Bloo was ON FIRE

Bloo won Music Analysis, which is a step up and they won drums again. Randy Isoda had Bloo first in the Repertoire GE2 sub caption but down .3 in the Performance sub. And Bloo was first in the Content sub for Visual Performance though down .3 in Achievement. That all sounds like BD was cleaner tonight. Setting up for a VERY INTERESTING finish.

Yeah, that extra beat makes the audience "feel" like somethings off. It works in close quarters, but on the field, with the percussion 50 ft. away, maybe not so much.

Yeah, it's a head scratcher. You know what would be really cool? If DCI were to give a quick synopsis on each score. It's just not consistent with last year's scoring methodology it seems.
