  1. Think about your logic.. Would i have marched 5 years (potentially 6) if that were true? if that did happen, i would've stopped marching after my 2nd year. Also, would they have called me up 3 times in my years of marching? i highly doubt it. Especially if i was an outkast. Nobody is that oblivious.
  2. it's funny you say that, because i definitely would NOT repeat any of the things if i was a current member. So your theory on me being considered a "4th part" flies right through the #### window. Second, it seems like you have quite the ego for someone whose corps folded. Don't care why they did, but they still folded. I also remember saying that dci every so often puts out great players. Out of the thousands of kids that have done this activity, only a handful actually got professional playing jobs. On top of that, dci was most certainly not the reason they were able to achieve those high paying jobs. drum corps can only take you so far as an individual player. I love the guys i marched with and wouldn't trade the experience for the world. But you can't make a living off marching band. In the grand scheme of things, nobody really cares about the "drum corps" circles. It's a kids activity. In the end, it's just maching band.
  3. First off, i remember you telling me you marched for the cavaliers in 2000. Then you tell me you marched for 8 years. I honestly doubt you marched cavaliers 8 years, or else you wouldve been in the packet. second, Exactly where and when did these guys march drum corps?? Please inform me. Because there is a giant difference between teaching a summer marching band, and actually doing it at some point. (with the exception of chris martin) Not saying there aren't good players in drum corps. Because there are. But the more serious players know that being able to move and play will not get them anywhere in life. Unless you're going into the educational side of it.
  4. I said for music PERFORMERS this is an awful activity. You all have selective listening. Kinda sad.
  5. Ha. No way. Although i was curious at some point how it felt to march a cadet show
  6. lol nahhh. Just needed to get serious about playing to get in the grad school i wanted to. Which i did.
  7. marching 8 years is nothing to be proud of. I i barely did 5. i was actually done after 2005. I got called in mid summer the next two times. For serious players who aren't interested in becoming music educators, this activity is pretty awful.
  8. aaron and joe. Both new guys my age out year. aaron went to bd. But i'm talking about brass. It's not odd to see percussionist hop around. Joe was the crown guy i was referring to when i said they wish they stayed with the green team for their age out.
  9. Right. I guess you think you're rather clever for your little tag at the end. But it honestly doesn't matter to me. I've done my 5 years of summer marching band.
  10. That hornline was also EXTREMELY new. Almost 2009 kind of new. And the drill was probably one of the most difficult in the cavaliers history as well as dci. I hear horror stories about that year all the time.Probably one of the top dirtiest championship shows in dci.
  11. i would really like to know who this is? Seeing as how i've been fairly involved with the corps since 2003, there's only one person who went to crown AFTER they marched cavaliers. And even then he said he wish he stayed there for his age out. So message me a name if you don't want to publicly say.
  12. You're so observant. Maybe you should be on the field instead of these judges they have right now
  13. I'd choose 02 and 03 cavaliers hornline over them any day. But like you said, these are all opinions. Yeah they're clean musically, but last time i checked this was MARCHING band. So standing around won't win you a championship. The challenge is to move AND play. If bandos wanted to listen to real musicians not move and play, then they'd go to an orchestra concert.
  14. like you said. I'd choose 02 and 03 cavaliers hornline over them any day. But like you said, these are all opinions. 15. As usual, i will intervene with your arguments. Would you like to find out from someone whose actually marched crown and cavaliers? Both are opposites. One is big on drill. The other is big on dance. his name is tanner. He's one of 2 three year crown vets (07,08,09) who went to cavaliers this summer. From what i heard of the members, they say things were a tad more difficult than when they were at crown. also,XtraordinarY wasn't on the same difficulty level as Mad World. So there's your answer. Take it with a grain of salt if you like. Just giving you some info from a members perspective.
  16. i hope you're right. They had a great start to the season. But lost momentum at the very end. They just weren't as clean musically and visually as cadets and bd. I honestly think if they waited to put some of those visuals in (like the upside down thing) they probably would've pulled ahead or came closer to BD. GE wuld've been through the roof.
  17. You guys crack me up. Just because you marched in a corps who won a Jim Ott does not make you "all knowing" of brass. It means your team had a more successful band sound than all the others. I can name atleast 5 people who have a Jim Ott AND a ring who are incapable of playing their horn well, as well as being awful at hearing pitches.
  18. Seeing as how you're a star alum, i feel as though there is a great deal of bias in your opinion and i do agree that them standing still while playing it was a good idea. If they tried it on the move it probably wouldn't of been as clean. Which could've separated them from winning the Jim Ott, or receiving 2nd place.
  19. This is my only account. I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with twice as much band talk.
  20. Well seeing as how this is the internet, sarcasm is hard to detect. And some people actually believe your statement, so the post wasn't necessarily directed towards you
  21. That's ridiculous. I'm glad the Forum Team isn't as ignorant you. Just because you have more "positives" and more "posts" doesn't make you more knowledgeable of the activity. Just means you have more time on your hands. Also, the negatives are very misleading. It's all a choice. I choose to voice my firm opinions and people dislike it for multiple reasons. Mostly because they disagree with my statement or how i worded it. This post is a good example. I could have found a nicer way to write this, but i chose to be blunt and straight forward about it. Which will probably cause me to get a lot of negative views. Which don't really bother me.
  22. I can definitely agree with you on this. Michael Gaines is a genius when it comes to that... He's still not going though
  23. they can clamor for him all they want, but he's not going. Him saying he's taking a year off really means "leave me alone. I want some ME time for a long time" But about the SCV thing. Why would they try and hire michael gaines when their drill is almost similar to that of the cavaliers? scv has a lot more things to worry about than getting them a new drill arranger. Their drill is great. Just dirty.
  24. There is more to life than drum corps. I'm sure he has no intention on coming back to work for anybody. BTW, i will need all of your paypal accounts to all those who doubted me.
  25. Kinda like what the cavaliers did in 2002? The cavaliers tried a new approach to dci, but after about 4 years, people got tired of hearing it and constantly complained that it was "not drum corps sound".
