  1. Then I guess you don't know the 2 staff that well at all...many shared friendships and repect amongst both instructional staffs. There was no screaming match about scoring at all, I was there. Fred Ford ECJ
  2. Just got a call from the corps - ECJ scored a 92.0 in the evening show and is now on the road back to home to New England. Weather in Rome was in the high 90's and is expected to be the same in Mass tomorrow.
  3. I do feel the need to chime in and support Brad & audiobd. Both have tons of credibility and in this case, the common sense to weed through the hearsay & speculation. I think the closest precedent is from 2004 when Cadets of NYC ended their season in July in a similar fashion. I remember them being assessed a $1000 fine for each show they missed - $8,000 - that they were obligated to (per the participation agreement each corps signs in the late Spring). The Cadets dealt with the issue accordingly in the 04-05 offseason and are back on the field this year. Why that rule exists and the enforcement of it is a very long story. Just think credibilty with sponsors, corps that did not get shows they wanted and the potential logistical nightmares that occur had we not set up such a policy. With ECJ moving in tomorrow for the rest of the season, I will leave the details to someone else (Bob J.?)..... Fred Ford ECJ
  4. ...and I am sure the Raiders members don't feel the need to throw snide remarks toward other organizations in the process. Tom & Phil do a great job with the organization....no need to boost them while snipping at others.
  5. and If I am not mistaken, the Trombonium soloist was none other than Bill Solari......
  6. wow- does this mean Jersey Surf is going to G bugles?
  7. East Coast Jazz will be 8 snare ( 5 vets) 5 tenors (4 vets) 5 bass (2 vets) 4 cymbals 12 front (7 vets)
  8. First to spin flags was St Anthony's Band from Revere, MA in 1972 Visual designer was George Zingali. he then took the idea to a local drum corps he taught. Other notable alum from the St Anthony's program include Marc Sylvester & Wanda Conway. The band program also ran a Winter Guard that later became Quasar.
  9. I am pleased to announce that Adam Rapa will be working with the corps in 2004. Adam marched with ECJ from 1994-2000 as a lead soprano. His playing is featured on the DCI recording "Artistry in Brass" volume 6. For the past few years he has been a cast member of Blast!. It's a pleasure to have him back with the corps. The trumpet section is in for a treat! Fred Ford ECJ
  10. I was looking over old DCI Championship recaps on From the Pressbox and came across this amazing stat... Freelancers finished 3rd in percussion in 77, ahead of SCV, Phantom, 27th, Bridgemen and Cavaliers! Who taught the percussion section back then?
  11. Spartans 84.3 East Coast Jazz 82.6 Spartans first in GE Vis /Music, All Visual Captions & Ensemble Music ECJ wins brass & percussion. Waiting for rest of scores from the show
  12. Although biased, I would suggest you check out 1997-98 East Coast Jazz. Adam Rapa (currently on tour with Blast!) did an incredible job with "Threshold" in 97 and "Artemis & Apollo" in 98. Great tone, range and style and he was on the money every rehearsal and performance. Fred Ford East Coast Jazz
