  1. I have laugh when I read what west coast blue wrote about the brass arranging for the Scouts to keep from crying! I don't know if you are aware of who is arranging for the Scouts. But, just in case you don't know, it is dci hall of fame arranger Robert w. Smith. Robert is a world renounwed composer, college educator and arranger. And to imply that he needs to take courses on harmonies is so laughable. And it actually just minimized your legitimacy on your opinions of the Scouts' musical book. But then again, I have to remember you are "west coast blue."
  2. Madison Scouts hands down is my favorite!! Man it's great to see that once proud organization moving back to where they belong in the elites of dci!!!
  3. I agree with the placement for the most part with a few exceptions. I actually think as usual Crown will peak before dci finals and BD will win. BAC or Caviliers will not catch Scouts this year. Sorry, that's just the way I see it.
  4. I agree with the previous poster. Sure, Cavaliers will get better as the season goes along. However, the corps in front of them will get better too. It's not like those corps are going to roll over now! And, as for the Scouts not beating the Cavies down the stretch. We must remember that they also have a deep history, tradition, and pride. And, now unlike in recent years, they have the staff.
  5. Jim Mason, Robert W. Smith, and the Mason Entertainment crew aka the old Star of Indiana staff has an awesome plan for the Scouts.
  6. No, it was not a lucky break for Madison. Those guys are for real this year and the staff they've put together are going to have those guys contending real soon.
  7. I hate say it guys. But, I have been around this activity, marched, and been on drum corps staffs for a long time. And, yes anything can happen. But, the Cavaliers are in trouble. This is not something that just happened suddenly this year! This has been culminating since they started losing staff people over the past several years. As for these other corps, let's not forget they have been around for a while too. Boston, Spirit sice the 70s. And heaven forbid Madison since 1938 with a great deal of tradition, history and winning. I honestly see Cavies somewhere between 9 and 7th thus year. We can pray for them to stay in TOC. But, I have a strange feeling that Spirit and the Scouts, especially Madison is on their way back to dominance. Have you seen the people they are lining up on their staff!!? They're starting to look like DCI hall of famers' row. And, most importantly, their talent level is getting back to top caliber in the corps top to bottom. We can only pray guys. But then again, I have seen corps, with exception of BD go through tough times competitively.
  8. Thank you so much for the updates and pictures. You are on in your predictions for finals placement. I actually have the Scouts in the 8 to 6 range. I hear there could be some uniform alterations coming!! They are moving into more technically demanding type shows with a little less emphasis on crowd pleasing. The reframed concept according to Chris Komnick is they again bring back some old Madison classics through the disguise of pictures at an exhibition! If you listen you can pick out some of the Madison classics such as Malaga, The Way We Were, and Malagueña. But you will have to see this show a few times to get all of the intricate sub thoughts. I know, just seems to be the way the design staff wants to go. Might even see more spamish classical type stuff in the future, who knows! But rest assured it will be good for where they are setting up to go. By the way, remember next year will be the Scouts' 75th anniversary season! And they were one of the original founding members of dci! Hmmmm!?
