  1. On pins and needles waiting for this show! It should be on DCI Fan Network!
  2. I am a new drum corps fan because my son is of age to participate and it is his passion. It is becoming mine too! I have become quite obsessed with it. And being a knowledgeable music person, I LOVE what is happening today. Love the classical music. Last thing I want to hear is a bunch of over done pop out there. I also like hearing original music. I also love the dance elements that have become popular. I think the whole of it is a sensory bonanza. I also have been around long enough to know that things always swing back. At some point, there will be backlash and a return to old school focus on drill... until things change again. Personally, Phantom's show makes me weep. It's stunningly beautiful. And incidentally, they are my favorite corps. I love their sound, their look, their drill, their design... all of it.
  3. Phantom show brought me to full on tears. You can't go wrong with one of the most beautiful arias of all time... but I have to say that Phantom does it for me every year. Love those guys even though they're not my townies. Also love the Scouts, Bluecoats, Crown and hate to admit it, but the BD show is good.
  4. I think some of you are missing the point. This topic was specifically about the Oregon Crusaders, NOT Open Class. It was originally posted in the WC forum. Have you seen the Crusaders show this year? If not, ask yourself are you really in a position to say that the topic about their show should automatically be moved. This was not about the OC corps, just 1 corps. The poster was pointing out to the WC folks who missed the corps to check them out. How do you tell a group to check something out if you move the topic to another section of the forum? If I could "like" a comment, as on facebook, I would "like" this one! Well said!
  5. Slight correction to earlier post: last year Oregon Crusaders took 18th in brass and beat three world class corps.
  6. From what I've been able to gather, the color guard was late because they were held up at a gate by officials. All a big misunderstanding.
  7. I think it's really unfortunate that more time has been spent arguing over where the Oregon Crusaders discussion belongs than on how great their show is. And all this hard line talk from the mod about them being open class, period, blah blah blah. Last year, they did make semis in Indy and placed 17th in brass. That aint too shabby. The only reason they didn't beat any world class corps in San Antonio was because they were scored differently. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that had they been scored the same as the WC corps were, they'd have beaten some of them.
