  1. I don't mean to be "that guy", but if I had a nickel for every Flo comment on here I could buy my own internet forum and ban all of you from it. It's not great. We get it. I would love to see more discussion on what the kids are doing on the field.
  2. Everytime they step on the field, they're getting better. They gain more experience, they learn what went well and what didn't, and how to improve upon those things. They learn how to take criticism and apply it to themselves and how to apply it as a group. If that's not character-building, I don't know what is. I feel like everytime I see you here it's just bashing smaller corps. You are entirely within your right to only enjoy bigger groups, but please, don't come on here and tear down individuals that, at the end of the day, whether they are staff or student, are just trying their best. They're still working as hard as any other corps out there - they deserve the same respect we give those groups.
  3. The issue here that I think many are alluding to is "putting the work in" oftentimes boils down to "spend more money", which is not something every organisation has equal access to. I don't claim to have virtually any answers when it comes to this stuff - but I can tell you, as the director of a competitive marching band from a small, rural area that is sometimes judged before we play a note - I've heard more iterations of "put the work in" from judges than I would like to, to the point where my group can translate what that actually means. My kids work hard - but the playing field isn't level.
  4. I certainly got way more out of the show the second time. Part of that was seeing it live vs. theaters, part was realizing that they were serious about the whole starting anywhere in the show thing, and being fascinated by the concept as I watched it unfold a second time with that in mind.
  5. Detroit and tonight started at the “beginning” (which I only feel comfortable calling it that because that’s what they chose to start with in Detroit). Muncie started at the end of “movement 3” beginning of “movement 4”. Those are the three times I’ve seen it.
  6. Just kidding. We’re stuck in a sea of cars and can hear scores from the parking lot. Saints 50.95 Cincy 64.90 MC 65.90 Bones 69.65 Bloo 76.30
  7. Wish I could stick around for encore and scores, but we have an hour and half trip home and a four hour road trip tomorrow. Hope my posts have been helpful in some ways. Great year for drum corps.
  8. Missed my pic again. But Bloo was awesome as always. The uniforms highlight their visual program so well. One thing they’ve made a huge part of their brand in recent years, imo, is an intimate connection with their audience. The performers are having a blast and they bring the crowd with them. Keytar was everything I hoped it would be and more.
  9. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of Bones in performance. Just too much fun. This show fascinated me before on a conceptual level and now that I’ve heard the source music I’m really loving it.
  10. It’s a process. From my camera roll, it gets uploaded to an app called Imgur. I use Imgur to open the link in a browser, and then copy the photo from that browser tab into my post. There is almost certainly an easier way. But this is what I came up with in a time crunch.
  11. Outstanding from Cincinnati Tradition! Really nice arranging on Masquerade from Phantom, some great soloists in there!
  12. Great sound from Fairfield. Not sure if it’s the same one, but there was a Fairfield a few years ago that had a killer race car show - you can probably find it on YouTube.
