I agree Cappy. The intonation is rough, and just playing loudly only increases the issue. It’s a well written show, but PC is more controlled right now. Crossmen have the better written show.

Crest was a far superior and tighter show for sure.

Flo is much better than it was even two years ago. I just wish they’d get some mics that could pick up bass sounds and crowd reaction consistently. Also some nights you can hear front ensemble, others not.

Crossmen opening hit kind of sounds like my 1987 band show. Just missing an arrangement by James Curnow and some tri-toms or marching timpani. Believe it or not, that isn’t a dig.

I thought we had moved past this. Come on folks! The corps leadership did what it thought or was told was best. It’s over. The vast majority of posts I have read everywhere else have been extremely positive. What is up your butt if you can’t let it go? It’s a DCI competition, not skipping a G20 summit.

Washing unis is an art form. Finding an empty laundromat in the middle of the day, getting everything in about the same time and getting back to the bus, all while not puking your guts out when you put them in the washing machines. Good times.

If those creepy people ever had to wash uniforms or smell the inside of the bus they’d lose their interest real quick. Maybe just hang unis from the windshield wipers. LOL. Man, we all smelled so awful, yet, we couldn’t smell ourselves. Some kind of smell defense, I guess. Our loved ones could smell it when we were done for the season.

As to the percussion feeling they are letting down the rest of the corps, if you’re reading this I want to remind you that you are among the very best in the entire world. Not being the very best is all in context. Stick with it and make improvements, but remember, you are at a level that most dare not dream of. You have a lot to be proud of for even being selected. We are rooting for you, and placement isn’t the be all end all. All of us love the show, and you are a part of the resurgence of a great and storied organization. SUTA!

As a former director I can say it’s easy to forget hydration. I always kept a parent around who made sure water breaks happened regularly. You get so into your head that, before you know it, more time has gone by than you realize. Kids are afraid to say anything, more so afraid of their peers thinking they are weak.

83.9 it would seem Mandarins have overtaken PR. Maybe SoS score was more accurate than we thought. Seems like they’ve reached a plateau. Hope they are able to make some strides and move to the next level. They’ve been a bit flat since the end of last week. GE scores very strong, but music still draining their overall score. Hard to imagine music not improving for Phantom between now and finals, but this is a different group of instructors.
