  1. I should probably admit that my eyes somehow omitted the word "bunk" when I originally read that.
  2. The Crossmen will march the entire season with their old uniforms, performing their Christmas show. Then, in the last performance of the year, Christmas presents will be handed out one-by-one. Each marching member will eagerly tear into the packages to find, of course, a new uniform, which they'll change into right on the spot. The closer of the show will transition straight into the corps exiting the field in parade formation while playing Russian Christmas Music, leaving the gift wrap, boxes, and old uniforms scattered all over the field. Then, if things work out perfectly, the Boston Crusaders will be onto the field next, and they'll tell the judges, "No, wait. Leave it where it is! We can work with this!"
  3. Jumping into this thread late... The Blue Knights will borrow elements from the last three years -- the circles from 2013, alien elements from 2012, and the rural folk songs referenced in 2011's English Folk Song Suite -- for their 2014 show... CROP CIRCLES Shocks of wheat will serve as the plumes on the shakos.
  4. Maybe they can do a live meme of themselves by recycling The Abyss to back up a different spoken word performance at every show. I'm thinking "Stuart" by the Dead Milkmen, and maybe "Hello Dad, I'm in Jail" by Was (Not Was). Maybe some short Joe Frank stuff.
  5. Dear lord. It's a good thing I'm where no one else can hear me laughing. Now I have no choice but to throw out my "Hitler finds out" video. (You'll know the relevant part when you see it.) It's nowhere near as popular as another "Hitler finds out" video, but oh well.
  6. "Also seeking battery percussionists who can drum and sing in two different tempos at the same time."
  7. "Also seeking percussionist who'd be comfortable with being sealed inside large concert bass. Must be able to discern where you are in the music without seeing the drum major."
  8. "If you can play snare drums or tenor drums while using rifles or sabers as drumsticks, we'd be very interested in speaking with you. Also seeking at least twenty people who possess experience with marching timpani, or at least have the strength to do so -- a modern dance background is mandatory in either case."
  9. Hmmm. And who might be "planning" that show? :-P Probably not the Troopers, of course. I hear they're going to build a show around Cannibal: The Musical.
  10. But it's always fun to try and figure out which members of the corps are Cylons. Oh, wait, I'm thinking of an entirely different body of music, aren't I?
  11. So does that mean Crown will be combining the soundtrack from Casablanca with, uh, something geometrical? It'd probably be better than trying to build a show around "Number Nine" by the Beatles and Yoko Ono. (Naturally, it'd start off with a single sequence of counting from the previous year before they go into it.)
  12. You mean they ditched their tracking devices and were moving about our society unseen? We need to merge this topic with the conspiracy theory thread.
  13. You don't even need to look at the screen to tell there's an interstellar battle going on. The music alone says it all. Some drumcorps should totally base their show around UFO. (What -- not a wide enough selection of music there? Fine. Throw in Space 1999, too.)
  14. They had to settle for hiding the rifles inside the tubas, which may have actually been a threat to the tiny tuba players hidden inside the tubas. (Note: I say that first part without understanding the reference to The Prestige, which I've never seen.)
  15. Whoops! Double post. Sorry. Or maybe I meant to say that inside the horns of the unseen tiny brass players was an even tinier...
  16. And inside every horn was a tinier, unseen member of the hornline.
  17. And inside every horn was a tinier, unseen member of the hornline.
  18. They couldn't get an actual wormhole to work, so they had to settle for growing clones in vats.
  19. Also, I was reminded earlier today about a suspicious-looking drill move the Blue Devils used back in 2008.
  20. That does it. Rule change for Lucas Oil Stadium, or any stadium configured like it: From now on, members of competing units will be required to enter the field either by way of the stairways in the seating areas, or they can be lowered on cables from the catwalks of the dome.
  21. For a second, you had me imagining that he would officially sign on as DCI's consulting conspiracy theorist. Naturally, such a move wouldn't be seen favorably by the drumcorps conspiracy theorists who had no direct affiliation with DCI.
  22. You'd have to catch the harp quietly. Any vibration of the strings would result in a penalty.
  23. So are harp tosses by the guard still outlawed as too dangerous, or we get a change on that? :-P
  24. Michael, If you didn't understand my contribution, then that's probably a sign you're either completely sane, or that you don't have the right type of insanity.:-) I love a good conspiracy theory, and some people seem to have some very interesting opinions about what they believe is going on in the shadowy parts of the world.
  25. Hmmmmmm. It sounds like Ohio State has an entire song about how they don't care for the whole state of Michigan. Seems to be rehearsed and everything. I think they secretly care. Will I need to duck any objects thrown by Ohio State alums or anyone else from the Big-10? (Went to CU-Boulder, so not too familiar with Big-10 sensitivities.)
