Well isn't there a Contra Player right in Orange County NY.... I think he marched in Bridgemen too..... Now what was his name. Young kid about your age John. he marched the same years you did I think?. Nah.... age probably getting to me... he would've been part of the corps by now. After all... he lives so close.

It was actually two Contra players, but they grabbed the tree from a couple of VK guys and carried up to the VK DM's sitting in the chairs. One of the Contra players kept the DM's busy while the other one swiped VK's cooler. Brought back only to find out there was no beer inside... just pepsi. Following this was the Bridgemen / VK Contra pyramid... no not with horns.... with the players themselves. If memory serves...... this was the first and last time DCI ever let the Bridgemen and VK line up next to each other during retreat. Pittsfield, MA 1983

The Bridgemen placed where they did because of execution. Great hornline and clean... great drum line and unbelievably clean.... good GE... simple drill (no doubt) but CLEAN... (at least for the Bridgemen) Spirit.... Unbelievable horn line..... but their drill was not so clean.... In 1980 there was the almighty tick system.... cleanliness got you points. Todays system.... who knows...... here's a tenth for effort. I too had spirit above the Bridgemen that night.... but knowing a few of the folks back then running the Banana corps... I also know for sure that the Bridgemen have never been given any kind of gift from DCI, They earned everything they got ......the hard way!! As far as 27 and BD..... I'm suprised 27 was so close to BD... BD was like glass.........smoooooooth and very clean.

Glad I'm not you. I march with a couple of Bridgemen Alums that have read this thread, they have better and more important things to do with their time right now. Besides.... I found out why they really don't post here either. Like I said.... better things to do. Even an old phart like me knows the truth about 77 I knew it then and asked one of the people who got DQ in 77 about it last night, just to make sure my memory was still good. No way DCI was going to let Hoffmans creation win the ring. So grow up and get your facts straight there junior. Kids....sheesh

I think his name is Eddie Irwin. Got to check with the Bridgemen on that one.
