I understand your point and I'm familiar with the musical content, maybe it's that it seems forced in the way it is put together, to me at least. At times, it seems like musical exercises. Just to much candy for a nickel as my mother used to say. That's all, just an opinion.

of course you're not wrong. but the discussion wasn't about purely entertainment. Both are entertaining, one to some more than the other.

If I may, I think he was pointing out that it was bigger, louder, faster, higher just for the sake of being bigger, lounder, faster and higher. As if to prove they can do it. Sometimes ability can get in the way of more "throughtful" approach. I remember a couple of years ago Crowns drill was performed so insanely fast that it was almost impossible to get into formation before they were frantically running to another. The design of the drill could not be appreciated because of this. And it seemed, to me, that they were performing at this pace just to prove they could do it. Crown's visual design team seems think they have to do everything they can do in one show. That's not a very mature attitude, imo.

Your points are valid and have merit. I suppose it's a matter of which style one prefers. Crown's sound is much rounder, thicker and possibly more powerful. BD's sound, imo, is more refined and pure. Both are very very good, just different. I liken it to my years of studying Organ performance. I just prefer the clarity and brilliance of Baroque instruments as opposed to more romantic instruments of later times. With the right registration a baroque instument can be made to sound romantic, but it's darned near impossible for a romantic instrument to take on the sound of a baroque instrument. And, it is really amazing to hearboth these groups and hear how amazingly good they both are. On a slightly different note, I think it is unfortunate that Crown does not have visual talent staff wise that Blue Devils has. But I'm not sure that particular groupl of talents could ever be assemebled again. I guess time will tell.

Staff changes have been many in the last 6 or 7 years. Maybe the problem is whomever is making the changes and their choices for new staff.

I've watched the show trying to figure out the story line. As convoluted as it seems, the unifom changes seems unnecessary. They should just come out in black and be done with it. Would make for a much cleaner show.

the person you quote does often times come across as a clown, buffoon or whatever. I've heard comments from him that would totally discredit his credntials.

not surprised BK moved ahead, they have a great show and were on fire tonight. If Cavaliers don't watch it BK could overtake them. This is going to be one of the more interesting things to watch, after the Cadets/Bluecoats battle.

It's amazing how the voice and sound is so beautifully meshed together. Whoever the voice is is wonderful. If they don't move up tonight, something is bad wrong.

George Hopkins needs to take note of this. They should be where Cadets are and vice versa
