welcome to Big 10 ( or 18) life. though PSU still has a full twirler squad. Dance Team generally isn't involved with the Blue Band
And Michigan’s drum major is a BAC alum!

And yet they are announcing initiatives with the Oakland Unified School District. I have a serious disconnect here.

Part of it was people I marched with in Norwood park had went over to the Guardsmen and said she has a lot of experience. I was not even close to special besides being a very good sightreader, but I was consistent and a good soldier.
And you weren’t a pain in the ###. Everyone knew who the pain in the ##### were, and they weren’t pursued

Not really. It’s just like what @Terri Schehr said, march a few years and you get to know a lot of people. They go to bigger and better corps and staff ask them if they know anybody good who would fit in. That’s how I moved up. I had friends up and down the top twelve when I marched in 79. One friend wanted to know if I would march mello for SCV and at the same time this rifle mentioned to GZ that I was a decent sop. I chose 27 mostly because I loved them and I could march sop. It was a small world back then.

After you marched a few years back then, people knew if you were good or a tick. 😂

They took me into the kitchen at the Skokie American legion hall. Handed me a longie v/r French horn that I had never played and asked me to play some scales. In Guardsmen, I didn’t have to do anything because people knew me.
I was in the same boat. I was recruited by a staff member to march Oakland Crusaders and I just showed up and was put in lead sopranos. Then, a rifle from Crusaders went to 27th and told George Zingali about me, I got a call and poof, I was a 27th Lancer.

Hopefully 2000 is on that list. Awesome show.
How could it not be?

In 1979 and 80, the show started with 27 for nothing

they used to be the Saganaires, changed names in the mid to late 80's
Unless you competed against them, in which case they were the Saggy-Baggies

My parents went to the Joliet, Illinois show in 1972 and when the fight started in concert in Des Plaines show, my Mom told my Dad that they were fighting and it was time to leave. 🤦♀️
And that wasn’t really unusual back then.

Dave was a great guy. I was in the cadet corps in '74 which was - by and large - "absorbed" into the main corps starting in '75.
I loved Finleyville in 75

We got in at the airport HGI. We’re going to go to the hall of fame on Tuesday before we go back to Cincinnati. It’s senior day 😂.
We’ll be staying in an AirBnB again, just like we do in Indy

In last season’s Top 12 , the Colts will be in the most shows at 25 shows ( assuming 3 in Indy ) … and the Bluecoats will in the smallest number of show’s 19 shows ( also assuming the 3 in Indy ) . All the others of the Top 12 will be between 21-24 shows including Indy .
Bluecoats had 19 shows last year as well

I think the first New England show this year might be in Connecticut, with several all age corps in competition as well. I am not expecting any Massachusetts shows until Lawrence right before Allentown. There was some early talk of that show featuring BD, SCV and Troopers along with BAC(which would be a nice little show, obviously) but I also heard later on that BD was not sure.
And yeah, while it is easy to wax nostalgic about "local" or "regional" touring, that is easier said than done these days. The other day, I posted about having a full slate of local corps in Massachusetts back in the day. As an example, I remember back in 1980 rehearsing with BAC on Sunday mornings at the East Boston Stadium. When we finished around noon, North Star would be pulling in for the afternoon block, followed by 27 later in the day. This doesn't even include Alliance or the Defenders. JurassicLancer, do you remember this?
Honestly, this happened all the time during the DCE season. We were all piled on top of each other. But 27 was mostly last because, well, busses.
